As the 2022 F1 season draws nearer we continue to get new liveries from teams. Alpine has recently announced its partnership with BWT which was a former sponsor of Racing Point. Alpine has released two new liveries with clear inspiration from BWT. In addition to that, Alpine superstar Fernando Alonso has discussed the hope for a closer, more competitive F1 season.
Alpine has two beautiful new liveries for the upcoming season. They hope to improve on last year’s fifth-place result in the constructor’s championship which occurred primarily because of Esteban Ocon’s unlikely victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
For the first two races of the season, the two Alpine cars will be draped in a beautiful pink livery. It is almost an inverse design of their primary livery, which is blue with pink accents.
It is a major change from their past liveries which were primarily blue with red and black accents.
In my opinion, these liveries are excellent. Does the pink livery look a bit like the Racing Point car from 2019? Yes, it does. But it’s a cool callback to a fun car livery that also brings out its own unique design. It’s also a good way to enter the new 2022 season because of all the rule changes. Good for Alpine to make its mark on the new season.
Just over a week ago, Alpine announced BWT as its primary title sponsor. It also has retained sponsor Castrol as a minor sponsorship. Castrol has been a part of the Alpine livery since they returned to F1 in 2016. The Castrol logo can be found on the rear wing, as well as on top of the car behind the driver.
Water company BWT will be the title sponsor and has their logo all over their livery. Front wing, back wing, sidewall, and on the nose of the car. Their logo is joined by crypto company Binance, who just recently signed a massive deal with Alpine for the upcoming season. Red Bull has also signed a massive Crypto-deal with cryptocurrency exchange Bybit.
Fernando Alonso is Not Done Yet
Fernando Alonso has raced with Alpine for many many years. In fact, when he won back-to-back Championships in 2005 and 2006, he was racing with the Alpine team which was then called Renault. Alpine still uses Renault engines in their F1 cars to this day.
Alonso is not ready to stop racing. After a brief retirement in 2018, Alonso returned to racing and has shown he’s still one of the best in the world. He even hopes that he can change the way the top of the grid looks due to some new rule changes.
According to Alonso and Alpine, the main reason for Alonso’s return to the sport was the rule changes. He stated that he’s been “waiting a year and a half for these cars.” Alonso believes that Alpine has an opportunity to get out of fifth place and compete with the Championship Contenders within 100 races, starting with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon will reunite this season again to try to further the legacy of both their individual careers and Alpine racing. Last season Ocon’s win was the first-ever by a French driver in a French sponsored car with a French engine.
Alonso has not won a race in years but had multiple top-five finishes last year. He hopes for a return to excellence with the new car designs, hoping it will diminish the gap between Hamilton and Verstappen and the rest of the grid.
