NASCAR continues its whirlwind schedule to make up for lost time on Wednesday for a race hosted by Martinsville Speedway. This will be the first night race hosted by the track in its history.

The 263-mile race in Martinsville, Va., includes a unique racing surface with asphalt on the straightaways and concrete in the 12-degree baking turns. This track has seen five different winners in the last five races.

Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and Martin Truex Jr. have won the last five in Martinsville. The odds have these five among the favorites in this one.

Kyle Busch

Most sportsbooks will have Busch as the favorite going into the race on Wednesday. He will be around the +450 mark on race day. He’s had 11 starts at Martinsville since 2015, with only one of those finishes coming outside of the top five.

He’s also been racing well this season with six top four finishes in his last six races. The odds are good he will be in contention on Wednesday.

Martin Truex, Jr.

Truex will follow right behind Busch as the second favorite. He will come in around +550. He has raced well at this track, winning in the fall at Martinsville last year.

He’s looking to continue with the momentum that he has developed at this track, while also coming off of his first top five finish of the year.

Clint Bowyer

Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure developed a NASCAR prediction model that simulates a race 10,000 times. It is used to predict racing outcomes while also including factors such as previous performances and track history.

For this race, the model is high on Clint Bowyer. He will be the pick that bettors make for a payday as well. He is only coming in at +2,000, so with a win, it would pay very well.

The model has seen success before, predicting Denny Hamlin’s win in the Daytona 500 along with several others.

He won this exact race in 2018 and has two other top 10 performances on the track.

It’s hard not to take a look at Jimmie Johnson. He does have nine wins at the track and is looking to add to his hall of fame career.
