Tom examines how great coaches make great teams.

What does it take to succeed in the coaching world? Seth Davis talks to several successful coaches from different sports and believes that cohesiveness is paramount to success.

He develops a scale called PEAK that means persistence in tasks, empathy for players, Authenticity in style, and knowledge of the craft. He interviews nine coaches who fit his parameters and writes a chapter about each one.

In the Urban Meyer chapter, he is told about some personal issues that came to Meyer concerning health problems and anxiety. The time off taught him some things about leading a balanced life. Also, Meyer talks about how the previous experience helps in trying to be successful.

Tom Izzo believes a key component to success is hard work and attention to detail in your younger years and how to translate that to players of today. Evral coaches such as Bobby Knight, Coach K, and Dabo Sweeney give their insight into coaching success.
