Florida State at Louisville Betting Preview: The Florida State Seminoles will take on the Louisville Cardinals in an ACC conference matchup on Monday evening. The Seminoles look impressive coming out of their COVID pause with wins over North Carolina State and North Carolina last week. The ‘Noles enter the game with a 7-2 overall record and are 3-1 in ACC games.
The Cardinals enter the game with a 9-2 record overall and a 4-1 record in the ACC but are coming off of a disappointing performance on the road in Coral Gables. Louisville fell to the Miami Hurricanes who were missing their best player in point guard Chris Lykes.
The game is scheduled to tip at 7:00 pm with Louisville laying 2.5 points at home. The total is set at 140.5 points.
Florida State at Louisville Betting Preview: Just a Hiccup for the Cardinals?
Early on this season, Louisville looked like a top-tier ACC group but the performance against Miami left a lot to be desired. The problem has of course been injuries to the Cardinals front court as injuries have kept Malik Williams on the sideline all season and now have Aiden Igiehon shelved as well. Jaylin Withers has filled in admirably but he is not a ACC level center.
On the flip side, maybe they just had a bad game. The road is a difficult place to play in the ACC and these things happen. Don’t expect this team to have too many games where they shoot 3-20 from behind the arc. That is an anomaly.
Louisville is 9-1 straight up this season as the favorite but just 5-6 against the spread. The total has gone over in three of their six games at home on the season.
Florida State at Louisville Betting Preview: Seminoles Rising Without Barnes
The fact that this Florida State team continues to win while Scottie Barnes is hobbled is mind-blowing. The freshman phenom only managed 13 minutes in the NC State game and missed the entire UNC game. The Seminoles maintain a deep roster of talent under Leonard Hamilton so the burden can be spread and that is exactly what has happened in his absence.
Look for MJ Walker and Anthony Polite to pick up the slack on the perimeter while Raiquan Gray has played well over the last two games as well. Florida State has a huge size advantage in this matchup so look for them to try and exploit the Cardinals on the offensive glass similar to the way the Hurricanes did over the weekend.
The Seminoles are 5-4 against the spread on the season but have only played a single true road game on the season and are 0-1 ATS. The total has gone over in five of their nine games on the season.
- FSU at Louisville (-2.5)
- Total: 140.5 points
- Bovada has Louisville as the 2.5 point favorite at home. The spread has grown by a point since opening. The total is set to 140.5 points.
Florida State at Louisville Betting Pick
The Seminoles should dominate the offensive glass in the game as Louisville is completely lacking in the big man department. If Barnes is going to play, take the FSU moneyline. Without Barnes, the task becomes exponentially more difficult. Don’t expect David Johnson to have two bad games in a row and as stated, don’t expect Louisville to repeat their 3-20 performance at home. Louisville covers, take the over.
