Mid Majors Set to Spoil March Madness

Gonzaga Bulldogs

Mark Few and his Bulldogs are always around as a contender in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs have never been to a Final Four, and this is their best chance. Has the West Coast Conference challenged them enough to get to the final weekend of March?

Wichita State Shockers

Gregg Marshall and his Shockers seem to be playing some of their best basketball right now. The Shockers, out of the Missouri Valley Conference are another team that has been battle tested.

New Mexico State Aggies

The Aggies are coming off a recent loss to Cal State Bakersfield, but this team has just three losses after the first week of February. When shots go down, this team is awfully tough to beat.

Illinois State Redbirds

Dan Muller is hoping his team becomes healthy, so they can fight for their shot with a fair chance. The Redbirds have seen several second half injuries, but this team is talented.

Saint Mary’s Gaels

The only team out of the West Coast Conference with any chance to beat the Bulldogs of Gonzaga. Saint Mary’s is really good defensively, and that should keep them in tournament games.

Monmouth Hawks

Out of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, this team felt slighted a season ago. They have some proven to do, but with five losses, they better hope they win their conference tournament this season.

North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks

The Seahawks are the leaders of the Colonial Athletic Conference. With three conference losses, it’s questionable whether they will get in without the automatic qualifier. If they do, look out.

Belmont Bruins

The Bruins are running away with the Ohio Valley. Can that correlate to a nice postseason win? The Ohio Valley is one of the weakest it has been in season’s, but still a very solid team.

Can Valpo be a mid major to knock off some teams this March Madness?

Valparaiso Crusaders

The Crusaders have one of the top players in the country for a mid major. The Crusaders Alec Peters is fantastic, and will help this team win a big tournament game.

Akron Zips

Can’t have a list of some of the best mid major programs without a MAC team in the mix. The Zips are 11-1 in conference play, and no one else in the MAC is anywhere close.
