Tonight the Hurricanes men’s basketball team will go into Louisville looking to extend their winning streak to three. The Canes have been looking decent, while the Cardinals have dropped six straight and nine of 10. I’m going to take a look at the rosters, betting lines, and more in order to give you the best look at this ACC matchup.
Louisville is Ice Cold
The Cardinals have been struggling as of late, and they look to turn it around tonight at home against a hot-and-cold Miami squad. Louisville started their season 3-0 against ACC opponents, but have been abysmal ever since.
They’ve scored 70+ points only three times since Jan. 1st and haven’t won a game in almost a month. They’ll need to be on fire to score enough to beat Miami tonight, who has three players averaging 12 or more points. Louisville does not have any players that average 10 or more points per game.
The Cardinals also only have four uninjured players that shoot better than 30% from the field. Deep shooting is very important to beat this Miami team.
Streaky in Southern Florida
Miami trails only Duke and Notre Dame in the ACC basketball standings. They had two one-point losses to Florida State, a four-point loss to Notre Dame, and a blowout loss at Virginia. When this team is shooting well they’re one of the best in the ACC.
Kam McGusty and Isaiah Wong both average 15+ points per game, and former DePaul guard Charlie Moore is averaging 12 points, two steals and four assists per game. The Canes certainly have lots of talented guys, but sometimes putting it all together on the floor is a struggle.
At one point this season Miami had won nine straight, including an impressive 74-76 victory over Duke at Cameron Indoor. But since then they’ve gone five and four and have struggled a bit to score, especially in the first half. However, they’ve had a few games where they have bounced back from early shooting woes to win the game.
Betting Odds and Predictions
The Moneyline for this game is Louisville +110, Miami -130. I get that Louisville is at home on a long losing streak and Miami is not a great road team, but I’ll be hammering the Canes money line at -130.
On top of that, the under is placed at 142. I also like the under in this one, as Louisville is not a high scoring team, and Miami often plays down to their competition. I see the final score as 69-62 Miami.
The spread is only two points, but I don’t see Miami losing a close game. That’s why I like money line -130 for the Canes. Personally, I don’t see the Canes losing a close game. I think if the game is close with 10 minutes left, Miami will pull away and take the victory.
I’d love to say that Miami will cover but you never know. I do think they’ll win the game though which is why I favor the money line over the spread in this scenario.
Also, you can bet Louisville to score under 70 points at -120. I like this bet almost as much as I like the money line on the Canes.
I see the Canes battling in a tough game but pulling away in the second half. Louisville’s inability to score will hurt them here. Kam McGusty and Charlie Moore are going to have big games, each putting up 15+ points. Miami needs this more than Louisville as they are fighting for seeding in the ACC tournament, as well as vying for a spot in March Madness.
