- Do the 49ers have a chance?
- The Jaguars are bad, but just how bad?
- Do the Jaguars have anything going for them?
In the 11th week of the NFL regular season, the San Francisco 49ers (4-5) travel to TIAA Bank Stadium to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-7,) with kickoff scheduled for 1 pm EST.
The 49ers are entering this matchup off the high of a huge upset 31-10 win against the formidable Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football, and you can bet energy and excitement will be high in this team. The Jaguars, on the other hand, are hoping to bounce back with a win this week after losing in a close 23-17 game to the Indianapolis Colts last week.

49ers Preview: Newfound Hope After Upset Win Against the Rams?
Even though the 49ers have a short week leading up to this Week 11 game, I don’t think they’ll have much of a problem defeating this Jacksonville team, especially off the heels of a shocking upset win against the Rams on Monday.
To me, it’s more about the Jaguars being terrible than it is about the 49ers being good. The Jaguars are one of the worst teams in the NFL, sitting at third place in the AFC South with a 2-7 record. The 49ers, on the other hand, aren’t really too bad, in fact they’re kind of just…meh. They have a record of 4-5, and they are also third in their division, the NFC West.
On Monday, the 49ers’ offense and defense alike played beautifully in a surprisingly dominant performance against the Rams. Offensively, their running game was very effective, and defensively, they were able to pressure Matthew Stafford into throwing two picks.
I think that the 49ers have their moments, and their Monday win was an example of one of them. They might not be a really good team, but the truth of the matter is, the Jaguars are worse. I fully expect San Francisco to come out of Jacksonville with a solid win this week.
Jaguars Preview: Improving Slowly
The Jacksonville Jaguars had a horrendous start to the season. They lost their first five games consecutively. But somehow, they’ve made their record 2-7 with a win against the Dolphins in Week 7, and a completely shocking but still sloppy win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.
Bring on the Niners.

— Jacksonville Jaguars (@Jaguars) November 18, 2021
After starting the season horribly, the Jaguars have, excruciatingly slowly, begun to build some momentum. I mean, at least they’ve got two wins now, and that win against the Bills was a really strange affair, with neither team scoring a touchdown and the final score being 9-6.
To say that Trevor Lawrence would be a major overstatement. As the first overall pick of the 2021 draft, Lawrence has done little for this team. He’s only thrown for more than one touchdown once, and that was in Week 1. His highest QBR in the past three weeks has been a measly 37.8.
It’s not entirely Lawrence’s fault, though. The Jaguars have one of the worst offenses in the league, with a weak offensive line and a forgettable receiver unit. To top it all off, Urban Meyer is head coach. All around, things aren’t great for this Jacksonville team. Still, any amount of progress is progress.
These past few weeks, the Jaguars have improved with defending the run, and this has helped them tremendously. Their running defense is ranked seventh, allowing 106 rushing yards per game. These numbers are shockingly good for a team with a 2-7 record. This might help them attempt to fend off the 49ers this week.
Progress was noted and improvement was taken into account, but there is still no way that the Jaguars win this game. The 49ers are by no means a great team, but they’re better than the Jaguars. The Jaguars have virtually nothing going for them in this Week 11 game.
Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Football Game
DraftKings Sportsbook has the San Francisco 49ers as 6.5-point favorites for this game and -290 moneyline favorites. The total is set for 45 points, with the over/under at -110.
I expect the 49ers to cover the spread, but I would also bet the under. I don’t think this will exactly be a blowout win, and I don’t have much faith in the Jaguars offense to score a decent amount of points. I don’t think these teams will combine for over 45 points.
Bet the 49ers to win and cover the spread, and bet the under.
