Boston College vs Clemson vs Matchup at a Glance

Boston College Eagles Preview: BC Eyeing Big Upset

Boston College has jumped out to one of the best starts in school history. After three straight wins to begin the season, BC survived their first real test when they defeated Missouri at home.

The Eagles took a ten-point lead into the fourth quarter, before the Tigers stormed back and took the game to overtime after connecting on a 56-yard field goal. Boston College would cash in on their first possession, and then pick Mizzou’s first pass off to end the game.

Redshirt senior Dennis Grosel had his best game of the season against Mizzou, going 18-29 for 175 passing yards with two touchdowns. He’ll have to do much more if he wants to take down this group of Tigers, but the ground game has done the heavy lifting for the Eagles.

Redshirt sophomore Pat Garwo III is coming off of the best outing of his career, rushing for 275 yards and two touchdowns against Mizzou. Zay Flowers leads the team in receiving with 18 catches for 275 yards and two touchdowns.

Clemson Tigers Preview: Don’t Panic Yet Clemson

Clemson is coming off of their second loss of the season, and they could potentially wander into uncharted territory. A third loss would all but end their CFB Playoff hopes.

After struggling to take down Georgia Tech at home, Clemson went down to NC State on the road in double overtime, 27-21. The Tigers are now 2-2, and they’ve been a complete disaster for bettors, going 0-4 against the spread.

Sophomore quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei didn’t look so promising throughout the first month of the season. He tossed multiple touchdowns for the first time this season last weekend, but he only finished with 111 passing yards. The Tigers inability to push the ball and move through the air is alarming.

Freshman Will Shipley’s injury won’t help matters. After breaking out with an 88-yard, two-score performance against Georgia Tech, the first-year running back is slated to miss a month. Kobe Pace will be the next man up, and he’s gained 93 yards on the season. Justyn Ross leads the receiving core with 22 catches for 216 yards and three touchdowns.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This College Football Game

This matchup puts Clemson in an odd, early-season must-win position. It could also turn into a spot for them to respond in. The Tigers need a win now, and with an undefeated, yet manageable Boston College team set to come to town, Dabo’s team should take care of business.

Now Clemson is indeed 0-4 against the spread so far this season, and while this 17-point margin seems manageable, they haven’t shown much offensively to warrant trusting them to cover.

This is still Clemson football though, and we won’t overthink here. It could turn out to be a gift for bettors and a way for Clemson to get back on track. Take their game spread, and eye the under as it could be another physical ACC contest.
