• Hurricanes are improving, but too slowly
  • Panthers can pressure Van Dyke
  • Expect a good game, but a Panthers win

In the ninth week of the college football season, the Miami Hurricanes (3-4) travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers (#17, 6-1), with kickoff set for Saturday, October 30 at 12pm EST.

The Hurricanes, who are currently fifth in the ACC Coastal division, are looking to get their second win in a row. Last week, they defeated the NC State in a close 31-30 game. The Panthers, the first-place team in the ACC Coastal, are doing very well this season, with six wins under their belt. They will aim to extend their four-game winning streak, as they most recently defeated Clemson 27-17.

Hurricanes Preview: Improving, But Will It Be Enough?

This will be no easy game for the Miami Hurricanes. They just won a big upset last week against NC State, their very first win against a Power 5 team this season. While this is exciting, the Hurricanes have to jump back into it on Saturday when they face the Pittsburgh Panthers in Pittsburgh, who are first in the ACC Coastal division and ranked #17 in the nation.

The Hurricanes, while they are fifth in the ACC Coastal, have an improving offense. Their offense is ranked 20th in passing yards per game. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has been a decent leader for the Hurricanes, completing 25 of 33 passes for 325 passing yards and four touchdowns against NC State. It seems like he improves with each start.

Miami is averaging 32.1 points per game, and they’re going to need to pull out all the stops if they want to remain competitive against the Panthers on Saturday. Will they win? Probably not. Will they give the Panthers a run for their money? Maybe. We’ll see.

Panthers Preview: Looking Dominant

The Panthers are in a great position this season. They’re 6-1 and top of the ACC Coastal division. I’d be really surprised if they do not win this game, as much as I think the Hurricanes are certainly improving.

Pittsburgh has been very dominant in their division this year. Quarterback Kenny Pickett has been playing on an elite level, throwing for over 300 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s win over Clemson, and he has zero interceptions and only one pick this season. The Panthers also lead the ACC in time of possession (34 minutes.)

I expect the Hurricanes to bring their best, but the Panther’s defense should be able to pressure quarterback Van Dyke into making mistakes, and the Panthers offense should be able to get the job done as well.

Pittsburgh is just a better team as a whole, and they’ve had a great season so far. I fully expect them to come out with the win in this Week 9 game against Miami.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This Football Game

DraftKings Sportsbook has the Pittsburgh Panthers as 9-point favorites for this game and -400 Moneyline favorites. The total is set for 62 points, with the over/under at -110.

I think this will be a decently high-scoring game, as both of these teams have solid defenses and have been able to rack up the points this season, so I would bet the over.

I also expect the Panthers to both win and cover the spread, as I think the Hurricanes are not exactly good enough to pull off a win in Week 9, but I think it’ll be a decently good game all the same.
