Kentucky Wildcats Preview: UK in A Spot to Shock Nation
Kentucky (6-0, 4-0) has gotten off to an unexpected, yet commanding start to the 2021 season. The Wildcats have already secured four SEC wins, matching last season’s total. UK has been impressive in wins over Florida and LSU, but this will be their biggest game of the season.
UK quarterback Will Levis is coming off of the best game of his college career. The junior signal caller was precise, going 14-17 for 145 passing yards with three touchdown passes, while adding 75 yards and two more scores on the ground. Levis’ five-touchdown performance was huge, but he’ll face a different animal this weekend.
The Wildcats are led by a talented duo in the backfield in juniors Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Kavosiey Smoke. Rodriguez has looked like one of the best backs in the country early, leading the Bluegrass with 759 rushing yards and five scores. Smoke broke loose last week against LSU, surpassing the 100-yard mark for the first time this season.
Kentucky will need a big game from junior wideout Wan’Dale Robinson in Athens this weekend. The Nebraska transfer has come in and been the Wildcats number one option, leading the team in catches (37), yards (527), and touchdowns (4).
Georgia Bulldogs Preview: Dawgs Lead the AP Polls
Georgia (6-0, 3-0) has climbed the mountain again, and Kirby Smart’s team looks as real as ever. The Bulldogs have been menacing defensively, dishing out two shutouts and holding Clemson to just three points in the opener. They have looked like the most physical team in the nation, and the gap with Alabama appears to be closing even more.
Stetson Bennett has started the last two games, and he’s managed them very well. The senior quarterback went 14-21 for 231 passing yards and two touchdowns in the road win over Auburn, but he’ll have his toughest task with a talented Kentucky defense.
The Bulldogs have a fluid three-man rotation going in the backfield this season. Zamir White leads the team with 354 rushing yards, and he’s scored twice in each of the past two games. Backs James Cook and Kendall Milton have both surpassed 200 yards this season.
There’s no A.J. Green around in Athens anymore, but Ladd McConkey had a breakout performance last weekend. The freshman wideout caught five passes for 135 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown in the win over Auburn. Freshman tight end Brock Bowers leads the team with 20 catches, 315 receiving yards, and four touchdowns.
Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This College Football Game
This game has grown to have bigger implications than initially expected. Mark Stoops has got Kentucky looking like a power in the SEC, while Georgia looks like a national title contender.
Kentucky enters with a strong defense and one of the best ground games in the country (212.7 ypg), and if they go into Sanford Stadium and defeat the number-one ranked team in the nation, it not only shakes up the SEC East, but it’d propel UK even further into CFB Playoff picture.
It’s a pretty ending, but this Georgia team should be feared the same way we fear Alabama. They don’t just have a good defense, they could potentially have an all-time great defense, and they should overwhelm Kentucky early. There is little room for upset here, and although the spread is massive, we’ll trust the Dawgs at home here. Take Georgia’s spread this weekend for this highly contested SEC battle
