• Michigan comes into this one the number 6 team in the nation
  • Penn State has one loss at home this season
  • Both teams allow an average under 17 points per game

A noon kickoff in Happy Valley as the Penn State Nittany Lions welcome the number six Michigan Wolverines to town. As always it will be a packed house at Beaver Stadium which should help Penn State make this game very interesting. The Nittany Lions secured their first win in four weeks by beating Maryland last week.

Michigan rebounded from their loss to Michigan State with a win against Indiana at home. The Wolverines ultimately can decide their own fate for the College Football Playoff if they win out. Their first step in that task is to beat the upset-minded Nittany Lions in their home stadium.

Michigan vs Penn State Matchup at a Glance

Michigan Wolverines Preview: Win and We’re In

The Wolverines come into this matchup with one thing on their mind, win. Most recently Michigan was slotted in as the number six team in the country. With a matchup against Ohio State coming up at the tail end of the season it will be up to the Wolverines to stay focused on the task at hand and that is handling business at Penn State.

Michigan has a well-balanced attack on offense from their quarterback Cade McNamara and running back Hassan Haskins. They keep defenses on their heels and have been averaging 36 points a game this season. The Wolverines defense is top-notch as well. Only allowing an average of 16 points a game and under 300 yards per game to opposing teams. Having a top ten defense in college football is a fantastic starting point to have for any championship hopeful team. If this defense can get pressure on Sean Clifford and the PSU Offense, they could send the Happy Valley faithful a rough message in their own stadium.

Penn State Nittany Lions Preview: Prove You Belong

Penn State hit a rough patch in mid-October with three straight losses. A team that came into this season looking to sneak into the College Football Playoff scenario has quickly become a team hoping not to have their season spiral out of control. Head Coach James Franklin has to lead this team in a home matchup that can solidify their season or remind them that they have a long way to go yet to compete for a Big Ten Championship.

This team will only go as far as their quarterback Sean Clifford will take them. When he got hurt in October, their offense sputtered and started their downward trend. If he and wide receiver Jahan Dotson can link up early and often they may be able to get out to an early lead on their home field. The Nittany Lions have a top defense in college football. Their defense is allowing just under 17 points a game on average. If they can keep the Michigan offense to under 20 points on Saturday, an upset may be in the works in State College.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This College Football Game

This game is as close as one could get for a ranked vs non-ranked opponent. Beaver Stadium is an environment that is not always friendly to opposing teams which is why the spread is only sitting at -1. With two defenses that are looked at as top 15 defenses in college football the Under 48.5 points play seems to be the best bet in this matchup.
