• Game will be decided late in the fourth quarter
  • Nebraska focuses on running the ball after losing their QB1 to injury
  • Nebraska turnovers may cost them the game

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-8) play host to the Iowa Hawkeyes (9-2) on Friday, November 26 at Memorial Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 PM EST.

The Hawkeyes have enjoyed a successful season. While they have fallen from their incredible start to the season, Iowa has been productive nonetheless.

Some label Nebraska as a poor team, while others call them unlucky. They have lost multiple games by one score or less in a heartbreaking fashion. The Cornhuskers are looking to turn the tide and pull out a victory on Friday.

Nebraska vs Iowa Matchup at a Glance

Nebraska Preview: Finish the Game!

Nebraska truly has been unlucky. They have lost six games by one score or less, and when they win they tend to win very big. The Cornhuskers have adopted a habit of playing well for three and a half quarters before falling late in games.

Nebraska needs to play well for all four quarters and potentially overtime if they hope to defeat this strong Iowa team.

However, it will be difficult to uphold the one point spread and earn the win without starting quarterback Adrian Martinez. The Cornhuskers opened up as 4-point favorites before he was ruled out, and they now are just 1-point favorites. There are sportsbooks that even made Iowa the favorites once Martinez was deemed unfit to play.

The Cornhuskers two keys to winning the game revolve around aggressive defense and smart offense.

Defensively, they have the ability to limit Iowa. Expect plenty of early blitzes and aggressive play calling from the Cornhuskers sideline.

The offense simply needs to play smart. I don’t care if they are not making big-time plays. As long as they take care of the football and consistently move the chains, they will be just fine.

Nebraska needs to hold on to the football late in the fourth quarter. All too often they have made mistakes late in games which has led to disheartening defeats.

Iowa Preview: Find Ways to Score Early

If the Hawkeyes can jump out to an early advantage, it will immediately place the pressure on Nebraska. The last thing the Hawkeyes want to do is trail early on and give their opponents a boost of confidence.

Iowa’s offensive line has improved this year, so the offense should have time to make plays whether it is through the air or on the ground.

Similar to Nebraska, expect an aggressive approach on defense. The Cornhuskers will be without their starting quarterback so Iowa may smell blood in the water early and cause plenty of havoc. We could be in line to see multiple turnovers from Nebraska’s offense if Iowa can break through their offensive line and consistently get into the backfield.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This College Football Game

Nebraska is 6-4 ATS this season. The Cornhuskers are 2-3 ATS when playing by 1 or fewer point favorites. The less is important because some sportsbooks list them as .5 favorites.

Nebraska has hit the over in four out of their ten games they have played this season.

Iowa is 6-5 ATS this season. They are 1-1 ATS when they are favored to lose by 1 point or less. The Hawkeyes have hit the over in four of the eleven games this year.

I believe that the obvious betting pick is to take Iowa. While Nebraska are the favorites according to the majority of sportsbooks, the Hawkeyes have been better this season and they are facing a team who is without their starting quarterback.

While this game likely comes down to the wire, I am rolling with the Iowa Hawkeyes in this Black Friday college football affair.
