• Wake Forest is One Of Two Remaining ACC Unbeatens
  • Virginia Looking to Rebound From a 59 -39 shootout Loss to North Carolina
  • The ACC is Wide Open as Clemson Struggles

When favorites in the ACC are mentioned, teams such as Clemson, North Carolina, Miami, and N.C State are at the top of the list. However, those teams are a combined 7 – 5 so far while Wake Forest is 3 – 0, including a 35 – 14 victory over Florida State in Week 3.

Virginia hung with North Carolina for most of three quarters before succumbing to a superior offense that finally seemed hit its stride. With the Clemson offense yet to find its way, Both the Coastal and Atlantic Divisions in the ACC are apparently up for grabs.

Wake Forest Preview: No One is Paying Attention to the Demon Deacons

Maybe the 42 – 10 win over rebuilding Old Dominion and the 41 – 16 shellacking of the other school from Hampton Roads, FCS Norfolk State, can be discounted for their value. However, the dismantling of Florida State in Week 3 should have gotten the attention of college football followers, but apparently not of the oddsmakers as the Demon Deacons find themselves four-point underdogs at Virginia.

Wake is running a balanced offense, averaging 233 yards on the ground and 183 through the air for a total of 416 yards in total offense through their first three games. Defensively, they have been stingy against the pass, allowing just 183 passing yards per game and 13.3 points a contest, 15th in the nation.

Virginia Preview: The Cavaliers Could Be In for Another Long Day

After seemingly impressive wins over FCS William and Mary and 1 – 3 Illinois, Virginia was severely exposed in their 59 – 39 loss at North Carolina. Offensively, they hung with the Tar Heels well into the second half with quarterback Brennan Armstrong throwing for 554 yards, but eventually, North Carolina just wore down the Cavaliers’ defense and won going away, limiting Virginia to 21 yards on the ground.

Virginia gave up one yard short of 700 yards in total offense to the Tar Heels, with 392 of it coming on the ground. Perhaps it was an anomaly, but that yardage total represents a real beat down by a North Carolina offense that struggled in its opening game loss to Virginia Tech.

Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This College Football Game

Wake Forest might be the most complete team that Virginia has faced and while the name might not induce fear into Virginia, the Demon Deacons might use their underdog status for motivation. Virginia has an offense that can put points on the board, but their defense will be challenged by Wake Forest’s balance on the other side of the ball.
