We as sports fans are certainly bored these days. We are nearing a month since we’ve truly had sports to watch, discuss and most importantly – bet on. FanDuel Sportsbook and the state of West Virginia are certainly looking at changing that, and also breaking ground on historic times in the world of legal betting.

Mike Raffensperger, the Chief Marketing Officer at FanDuel had this to say about offering the Presidential Odds:

“We’re proud to have partnered with the West Virginia Lottery to bring these markets into a legal, regulated sportsbook.”

The West Virginia Lottery approved FanDuel’s request to offer Presidental Election Betting. While there are plenty of discussions about whether betting on the election is right or wrong – within a couple of hours of providing betting odds; they were pulled off the FanDuel website. While Knup Sports was not on the prowl to check out when the odds were exactly taken down, many reports are that it was between 8:15 and 8:30pm Eastern Time.

Following the release from FanDuel, PlayWV had the following to say about the Presidential Odds:

“It is my understanding that we were asked by the sportsbooks to allow betting on the presidential election and it is being reviewed. I think possibly someone jumped before being given an approval.”
A little later, the folks at FanDuel got back into the game and made a comment about it as well:

“While the markets were approved, the West Virginia Lottery has asked FanDuel to refrain from offering the markets until they have time to fully work through the implications of this new market offering.”

While the legality of whether American’s should be able to bet on the Presidential Election or not continue, while they posted odds, it’s time to discuss them, right? Here are a few of the odds that West Virginia posted before taking them down:

  • Winner of the Election saw: Trump at -110 and Biden listed as the underdog at +125
  • Presidential Election 2020: Republican -125, Democrat -110
  • Democratic Nomination: Joe Biden, of course, was the big favorite, at -700, while Andrew Cuomo was listed at +1400 and Bernie Sanders at +1600
  • Democratic Vice President: Kamala Harris +188, Amy Klobuchar +400
  • You can also bet on each individual state and their winning party

Stay tuned, we will have more on this as the information comes out!
