Week 3 of LCS Summer Split will kick off with a match between Team Liquid and FlyQuest, followed by nine fixtures featuring teams that will hope to continue with their results and others which still have a lot to prove. Talking about a team that has failed to live up to the expectations, it’s Team SoloMid, who will hope for the first perfect week of Summer Split after finishing the first two 1-1.
Up And Down Start For Clutch Gaming
Clutch Gaming did not have the best start of Summer Split, losing both of their opening matches against OpTic Gaming and Cloud9, which saw them finishing week 1 dead last with a 0-2 record. Considered to be the underdog of LCS, and by some even the worst team of 2019 Summer Split, Clutch Gaming had a lot to prove after a slow start in week 1.
They entered week 2 confident and determined to prove the naysayers wrong, which is exactly what they did. Against all odds, Clutch Gaming defeated the previously undefeated Golden Guardians, followed by a close-fought win against 100 Thieves to conclude a perfect 2-0 week. Holding a 2-2 record, there is still a long road ahead of Clutch Gaming, who will enter week 3 filled with confidence that they can finish Summer Split higher than their second-to-last finish in Spring Split.
Team SoloMid looking for their first perfect week
Entering week 3, Team SoloMid hopes this will be their first perfect week after ending both of the opening two weeks with a record of 1-1. Looking back at their performances in the first four matches, TSM managed to defeat CLG and Echo Fox but lost to their arch-rivals Team Liquid and FlyQuest, who have caused problems for TSM before.
Hoping for a better result in Week 3, TSM will first meet with Clutch Gaming on Saturday, followed by a match against longtime rivals Cloud9 on Sunday.
While TSM are considered as heavy favorites to win against Clutch Gaming, there are understandably some concerns if they will have such an easy time, especially after their less-than-impressive win against Echo Fox last weekend.
Confident Clutch Gaming Going Against Experienced TSM
TSM entered the Summer Split with one goal on their mind, which was to get their revenge after losing the finals of Spring Split against Team Liquid. Proving their quality time and time again, TSM became a team known to put a lot of pressure on their opponents, which more times than not exposes teams that are simply not up to par with their skill level.
Clutch Gaming, on the other hand, are a team that we can’t really rank among the best, but then again, we can not say they are terribly bad either. There is no denying that things did not look too bright for them in week 1, however, with a perfect 2-0 record in week 2, Clutch Gaming proved they have got something in them, and that something just might help them reach the playoffs this split.
While I do believe that Clutch Gaming has a potential to finish in the top 6, I am confident saying they can not compete with the quality that the elite three NA teams (TSM, Liquid, and Cloud9) possess. With that in mind, I expect TSM to have enough star power and experience to deal with what Clutch Gaming will bring to the table.
Prediction: TSM to win
