- Ninjas fresh off a win against one of the tournament favourites, Gambit
- 2-2 in the head-to-head on the year
- The bookmakers favour mouz
Mousesports and Ninjas in Pyjamas will clash on Tuesday, September 7, in the opening round of the ESL Pro League Season 14 playoffs. These two European Counter-strike: Global Offensive squads last met in June, when Ninjas in Pyjamas won with 2-0.
With that win, NiP are 2-2 against mouz on the year, but 1-2 across their last three meetings. Will they manage to build on the momentum from the group stage and take the h2h lead, or will it be mouz, who will claim the spoils and extend their win streak to four in a row?

mousesports Preview: In need of an IGL
Mousesports started their ESL Pro League campaign with a loss against their former IGL’s team, Faze Clan. They followed it up with a 0-2 loss against one of the tournament favorites Natus Vincere and things looked grim at that point.
However, they have managed to bounce back and won all of the three remaining games; 2-0 against Evil Geniuses, 2-0 against Fnatic, and 2-1 against BIG. But it should be noted that all these wins have an asterisk to them. Evil Geniuses are basically a dead team walking, Fnatic fielded an entirely new roster, while BIG just lost one of their best star players and replaced him with an average player from a failed North project.
Mousesports have a very young squad that averages just 22 years old, and I believe this is where they fail short. CS:GO has moved from the times where raw firepower can win you tournaments – nowadays, a good in-game leader is essential, and I don’t see a player like Christopher ‘dexter’ Nong being up to the task.
NIP Preview: If They Can Beat Gambit…
Ninjas in Pyjamas opened their ESL Pro League campaign with a 0-2 loss against Team Liquid. They followed it up with two 2-0 victories over Entropiq and TeamOne, but then they dropped their ball and lost against FURIA – a team that is playing with a coach instead of a proper player!
What happened next was pretty much a shock to everyone. NiP swept the current no.2 team in the world, Gambit (2-0), with 16-12 on Ancient and 16-6 on Inferno.
Fredrik ‘REZ’ Sterner and Hampus ‘hampus’ Poser were the best NIP players that day, ending the series with over 40 frags and +1.20 HLTV. That was quite a statement considering that you also have one of the best CS:GO players on your roster in Nicolai ‘device’ Reedtz, who managed only 30 frags and a 1.01 HLTV rating.
Upsets like that don’t happen very often, but it should serve as a morale boost for the Ninjas, and they should be feeling confident about beating the overhyped mousesports.
Odds & Free Betting Analysis for This ESL Pro League Game
Mousesports enter the match priced as favorites around 1.76, while NIP are at 2.08, which definitely underrates Ninjas a little. The over/under 2.50 maps is at 1.99 for over and 1.833 for under, which seems fair.
The last time these two teams met was about two months ago at the IEM Cologne 2021 Play-in, when Ninjas won 2-0, with 16-8 on Mirage and 16-11 on Ancient. Device was clearly the best player on the server that day with 44 frags and 1.35 HLTV rating, while on the side of mouz it was Robin ‘ropz’ Kool who was their best player with 42 frags and 1.16 HLTV rating, while none of his teammates even came close to 1.00 HLTV rating!
Seeing mousesports priced so low makes zero sense to me. They might have some unbelievably skilled players, but they fail short when it comes to their IGL. They need a stronger figure to lead them – someone like their former IGL, Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen, who left for FaZe earlier this year.
NIP, on the other hand, have just beaten one of the tournament favorites, Gambit, so they should be on cloud nine. What’s more, NiP have better players all around, better coaching staff, and with device in their ranks, the sky is the limit!
Overall, NIP look way more like a complete package than mousesports, and the 2.08 on NIP is not based on reality. Bet on Ninjas to assassinate mousesports.
