The Show ’21 Unveils: MLB The Show is set to release on April 20th. The game has been hyped up by PlayStation players for many years and now Xbox players are joining the party in supporting the franchise for many years to come. The trailer unveiled four new legends that fans are very excited about and can’t wait to play the game.
Alfonso Soriano (NYY)
Soriano played in the MLB from the year 1999-2014 and was a 4x Silver Slugger. Soriano made the All-Star team seven straight times which included the New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Washington Nationals, and Chicago Cubs. Many fans forget that he played in Japan for the
Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 1996 before bursting on the scene in the MLB.
Soriano was best known for turning double players with Hall of Famer Derek Jeter and being in a trade with minor leaguer Joaquin Árias that brought Alex Rodriguez in Pinstripes with a boatload of cash in the deal.
Soriano was later traded to Washington Nationals and signed with the Chicago Cubs a year later. The Cubs signed Soriano in 2006 for $136 million over eight years. It all came full circle as he later retired as a New York Yankee.
Grady Sizemore (CLE)
Sizemore played in the league from 2004-2015 and was a 3x All-Star and a wizard with the glove in centerfield, winning the Gold Glove twice. He is best known for his tenure with the Cleveland Indians but played with the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Tampa Rays.
Sizemore was on the path of having a Hall of Fame career. In 2005-2008, he had a .372 OBP, .496 SLG, and stole over 115 bases. However, due to injury his prime was cut short, and attempted numerous comebacks. Sadly, his career ended at the age of 32 in 2015.
Sizemore is one of the biggest what-ifs in MLB history. If the Indians had Sizemore in CF during the World Series against the Chicago Cubs, would that have changed the outcome dramatically?
Roberto Clemente (PIT)
He played from 1955-1972 and had a ton of accomplishments throughout his career with the Pittsburg Pirates. The Hall of Famer was a 15x All-Star, 12x Gold Glove, 4x Batting Titles, 2x World Series Champ, and an MVP.
His career was cut short due to a tragedy when the cargo plane he was traveling in crashed. Due to his amazing career as a professional, the MLB Hall of Fame changed its rules in regards to eligibility. He is also a member of the 3,000 hit club.
Kirby Puckett (MIN)
Puckett played on the Minnesota Twins his whole career for 12 seasons and has a ton of accolades. He went to ten straight All-Star Games, 6x Gold Gloves, 6x Silver Slugger, 2x World Series, and a batting title.
The Hall of Fame center fielder is the Twins all-time leader in career hits runs and total bases. Puckett could have played a few more years, but had to retire due to loss of vision in one eye from a central retinal vein occlusion.
Pedro Martinez and Prince Fielder have also been revealed as of late. Martinez is best known for his tenure with the Boston Red Sox, and his changeup will most likely be one of the hardest pitches in the game. Fielder had a great tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers and his power swing will be insane and be a matchup nightmare. There will be one more legend revealed at 6 pm EST tomorrow.
