MLB DFS Picks for Friday, April 9, 2021: Friday, April 9, there will be nine Major League games across three slates. This article is going to tell you what you need to know for all positions in MLB daily fantasy.

Hitting Stacks

The Reds will be taking on pitcher Taylor Widener. Widener is a player with an alright three-pitch reputation that is stopping him from being moved to middle reliever.

He is projected to have a 5.00 ERA and give up a lot of home runs. The Cincinnati Reds have a very strong offense with three players who are expected to hit between 30 and 40 home runs and others who could hit over 20 home runs.

The Astros will be hitting against Sean Manaea. Manaea is a control type of pitcher and was not hitting the spots he should have been in last week’s debut.

Last year he took four turns through the rotation before he started to hit his spots. That could also be the case this year, and even if he was pitching well, the Astros are very capable of winning this matchup.

Pitcher: Joe Musgrove

Musgrove was great in his debut against the Diamondbacks, topping out at a career-high 93.5 mph with his fastball.

All of his five pitches were working incredibly last week, and he should do the same to the weak Rangers offense. Musgrove has put up over 12.00 K/9 since the beginning of 2020.

Catcher: Tyler Stephenson

Stephenson is one of the best hitting catcher prospects in the MLB and will be taking on the Reds and pitcher Taylor Widener.

It is not confirmed that Stephenson will start tonight, but his teammate Tucker Barnhart has not played since Tuesday. Tyler makes a lot of hard contact with the ball and has launch angles that match up with Wideners, which is good.

First Base: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero will be hitting against Heaney, which is great if you’re a Blue Jays fan. Guerrero has raised his launch angle and is definitely an elite hitter this season.

Pitcher Heaney is an odd southpaw who throws a lot of sinkers high in the strike zone. This is Vladimir’s wheelhouse so expect extra-base hits, runs, and home runs from him.

Second Base: Marcus Semien

Semien is on this list for reasons that are the same as Guerrero. Semien has a great reputation against lefties.

Today is a good day to pick Semien, but you are probably going to have to share with many other DFS users.

Third Base: Jose Ramirez

Ramirez is hitting against Julio Teheran and the Tigers. Teheran has pitched well so far, but at his best, he is still a middle-tier pitcher.

Ramirez has a very nice-looking DFS projection, and to add, the Tigers have one of the worst bullpens in the MLB.

Shortstop: Carlos Correa

Correa today is ranked significantly higher than any shortstop today in DFS. Correa has started off great this season and had his highest exit velocity since 2016.

They have Correa priced like a midtier player even though he will be taking on a southpaw who hasn’t performed well at all this season.

Outfield: Mike Trout / Eddie Rosario

There isn’t much to say about a Trout recommendation. He is a top projected player in DFS and is one of the best hitters in baseball, so there is no point in not picking him besides his price tag.

Rosario is on here because Progressive Field is very nice to left-handed hitters, especially one with power.

His matchup against Teheran projects that he will hit hard-liners and barreled up fly balls that could end up out of the park. He is the top outfield target today and is only going for a mid-tier price.
