The Major league baseball season is just around the corner and that means fantasy managers are now drafting their teams. Last year brought some of the best baseball the league has seen with the emergence of a variety of young stars.
Between Stars like Shohei Ohtahni, Aaron Jordan Alvarez, Trea Turner, and Julio Rodriguez, fantasy managers have a wide range of options at the top of the draft board. Read on for an analysis of who I think will be the most valuable players in fantasy baseball in 2023.
Shohei Ohtani
Rounding out the top of the list of the most valuable players in fantasy baseball is none other than superstar-multi positional-player Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani pitched to an impressive 15-9 record on the mound scoring an impressive 2.33 earned run average and a 1.01 Walks and hits per innings pitched (WHIP) 166 innings pitched 1.01 whip.
On the offensive side, Ohtani batted for an unbelievable 586 at bats 160 hits 34 home runs 95 runs batted in (RBI). Ohtani is a certified can’t-miss fantasy prospect no matter where managers will be slotting him in. Ohtani isn’t a player managers can pass on if still available.
Yordan Alvarez
Another can’t miss fantasy prospect that had an unbelievable 2022 campaign was Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez is an offensive powerhouse for the high-scoring Houston Astros. The Astros as a team are some of the most patient batters in the entire league, and thus load the bases – which consistently puts Alvarez in a position to score runs for the Astros and points for your fantasy team. Last season Alvarez had 470 at bats for 144 hits, 37 home runs, and 97 runs batted in (RBI).
Trea Turner
Finishing off the list of the top three fantasy baseball prospects for the 2023 season is Trea Turner. Baseball fans have already seen some “Trea magic” this season in the World Baseball Classic when Turner hit a grand slam to propel the United States past Cuba. Turner is capable of big time plays in big time moments, but he also does the dirty work and puts up the statistics.
In the 2022 regular season, Turner had 652 at bats for a total of 194 hits, 21 home runs, 100 runs batted in (RBI) and 27 stolen bases. Turner is one of the best all-around players in the league — fantasy managers can rest assured his statistics will reflect that.
