The golfing travels to another TPC course – the Four Seasons Resort at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas for the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship. This is an important event because it is connect to the U.S. Open and after the event all players inside the top-60 of the world rankings will be guaranteed an invitation to Erin Hills. The course is 7,166 yards and surprisingly long at times. The majority of its par 4s will give players nightmares, including No. 3 – the most difficult hole on the course at 528 yards.

Oh, what a yawner it is to see Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth as the favorites to win the Byron Nelson golf classic. They are both playing very well and are two of the highest ranked golfers in the world.

Johnson has put together top six finishes in seven of his last nine starts. He finished last weekend very strong in the final round to finish in 12th place. Last year in the Byron Nelson he finished with 12th place.

Spieth has some issues last week and didn’t make the final cut. This has given him some serious time to prepare for this event. He has finished in the top 25 in eight of his previous 11 starts this season. This is his hometown event but he has had trouble in the past at the Nelson. He will look to change a few things this weekend. This is my pick this week.

If you are in the mood for an off the radar golfer you may wish to consider Ryan Palmer. As a local, he is 4 of 5 with top 10 finishes. He is looking to change his fortunes from a disastrous Players Championship.

A veteran that I like this week is Vijah Singh. He got as close as 16th last week and that is his best finish this year. He is getting better as time goes on. He did win this event in 2003.

My sleeper pick is Charles Howell III.
