Formerly called the San Diego Open back in the 50’s, the Farmers Insurance Open goes for its 66th year in sponsoring this event at Torrey Pines Golf Course in LaJolla, California. Last year this event was won by Jon Rahm. An interesting fact here is that Tiger Woods returns from his injuries to play this event he last won in 2013. He is a 6 time winner of this tourney.

The event is played on two courses. The entire field playing both the North and South Courses over the first two days before the weekend play is staged entirely on the tougher, longer, South Course. The North Course is a par 72, 7,258 yards while the  South Course, par 72, 7,698 yards.

Some of the entrants that need to be followed:

Jon Rahm– He won last week and will be looking for back-to-back victories. This will be a much weaker event that gives him a good chance to defend his title. He is 7-1 odds to win.

Rickie Fowler– He has placed fourth and fifth in this Open but he shown a slow start to 2018. This is not one of his favorites course and enters t 10-1 odds.

Hideki Matsuyama– He hasn’t showed good numbers in the past at this event and appears to be a warm-up for an attempt to won his third consecutive Phoenix Open next week. His odds are 14-1 to win.

Justin Rose– Rose has struggled here as he as entered this event 9 times and has only one top 20 finish which was 4th last year. Odds are 14-1 to win.

Tiger Woods– People are excited to see the 6 time winner return. It remains to be seen if he is physically capable of playing for the next three days. You have to have interest in this if you are a true golf fan. Odds for Tiger come in at 20-1.

Our Picks:

It is always difficult to pass on the favorite for the Open as Rahm comes in off a winning streak. Tiger Woods gets some play today but a few longshots are our favorites for this one. This week it will be either Marc Leishman at 22-1 odds or Ollie Schneiderjans at 40-1 that we put our money on to win.
