None of these fillies have won a Grade 1 race and none have gone 10 furlongs in their race history. One horse will get it done this weekend at the $600,000 Alabama Stakes which is a Grade 1 race on Saturday at Saratoga.

This race is scheduled for 5:59 pm Eastern time. Here is a short preview with the current odds and then we make a few predictions.

Dunbar Road is set at 8-5 odds and is the daughter of Quality Road. She is trained by Chad Brown and will be ridden by J. Ortiz. Brown brings in a quality horse for this event as Dunbar Road as the favorite for this race.

Lady Apple is the daughter of Curlin and has 9-2 odds for her to win. She is trained by Steve Ausmussen and will be jockeyed by R. Santana Jr. This horse comes in as a two-time Grade 3 winner with them coming at the Iowa Oaks and the Fantasy at Oaklawn Park. She calls this trak home to train and is a red hot runner at the moment. Major contender for the win.

The daughter of Hard Spun, Afleet Destiny is 30-1 odds to win this race. Tained by Uriah St. Lewis, she broke her maiden in November but dropped to second in the Demoiselle in December. Not a contender.

Champagne Anyone won the Gulfstream Park Oaks and is in preparation for the Kentucky Derby weekend. She is trained by Ian Wilkes and defeated the favorite to his race a few months ago. The horse has shown some regression and enters at 10-1 odds. Could contend.

Street Band is the daughter of Istan and is 5-1 odds to win. She is trained by Larry Jones and was the winner of the Indiana Oaks recently. Her performances and been all over the place. Probably in the money.

Ulele is a longshot in this race at 10-1 odds with two runner-up performances at half-length. She has trained hard and will find jockey J. Rosario on the ride. Could surprise.

Trainer George Weaver brings a daughter of Curlin to the race with Point of Honor at 3-1 odds. She won the Black-Eyed Susan during the Preakness weekend and ran second to unbeaten Guarana. This horse has the ability to run by the favorites down the stretch.

Off Topic is at 20-1 odds and is trained by Todd Pletcher. She is the daughter of Street Sense and has one victory. She can handle distance and will likely lead the pack early. She won’t win it.

Kelsey’s Cross is 30-1 to win but has some issues before the gate opens. She has only ran on turf. She has placed third three times in a row. This is race is out of her league.

The winner in 2018 was Eskimo Kisses with Jose Ortiz as the jockey.

Summary: It’s tough to go against the favorite, Dunbar Road, in the Alabama Stakes. Her trainer has high hopes and has no problem with the distance for her. After the winner we have a cluster of quality horses vying for the money.
