The opening on Santa Anita race track is set for September 19, 2020 for the season and they have some great events planned for the casual fans as well as the hardcore track people. It will be a bettors paradise this season with so many possibilities on betting the stakes.
Betting the Stakes at Santa Anita
Opening day finds the $100,000 G3 Chillingsworth Stakes for mares and fillies to be run at 6.5 furlongs. All the way through October 25, 2020, when they close for the season, they will highlight 24 stakes races.
The Chillingsworth formerly was known as the LA Woman Stakes but now has been renamed after the longtime Director of Oak Tree Racing Association, Sherwood Chillingsworth. This is a “Win and You’re In” race and allows horses to advance to the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland in November.
Also on the docket is the Speakeasy Stakes for 2 year olds run at 5.5 furlongs and a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Spring which is a G2 race. This is scheduled for September 19, 2020. The next weekend, September 26th, the $300,000 Rodeo Drive, is a G1 affair and is a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Also on the same day is the G1 American Pharoah set for 3 year olds and has a $300,000 payout.
Continuing the weekend is the G1 $300,000 Awesome Again race which is a Breeders’ Cup Classic prep race. Following that we have a G2 for 2 year old fillies called the Chandelier Stakes.All of these are set up for an awesome day at the track for the fans and those itching for some betting the stakes.
The next day, September 27, 202, two more stakes races are set with the $200,000 Zenyatta (G2) as a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Longines Distaff. Later in the day they feature another G2 race which is the $200,000 Santa Anita Championship for 3 year olds and is a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Spring. All of these feature the “Win and You’re In’ excitement.
The Eddie D Stakes is a $200,ooo race at 5 ½ furlongs on turf and is named after the great, retired jockey Eddie Delahoussaye who is in the Hall of Fame. This race is to be run on Friday, September 25, 2020.

Betting the Stakes at Keeneland
Thoroughbred racing will be focusing on the Breeders’ Cup prep races and Keeneland will provide some of that from October 2-24, 2020 with the Fall Meet that pays out almost $5m. The last time the Breeders’ Cup was held at Keeneland was in 2015.
With “Win and You’re In’ for 17 days, this will bring excitement as fans begin betting the stakes as the schedule creeps closer to the Breeders’ Cup weekend.

$200,000 Bourbon (G2) (Juvenile Turf Presented by Coolmore America)
$150,000 Indian Summer (Juvenile Turf Sprint)
The other graded stakes during Fall Stars Weekend, also being run Saturday, October 3, is the $150,000 Woodford (G2) Presented by TVG.
NYRA Announces for Fall
The 27 day Belmont Fall meet dates have been announced by the New York Racing Association, Inc. It will begin on Friday, September 18th and go through Sunday, November 1, 2020.There are 38 stakes races with $5.58 million in prize money to be awarded.
