Louisiana Derby Entries
Starinmydreams gets the #1 post spot and is an overwhelming underdog in this race . The son of Super Saver is trained by Dallas Stewart and jockeyed by Luis Saez. No chance here. 20-1 odds.
Rightandjust is the son of Awesome Again and has 20-1 odds to win. This horse is likely to set the pace and if history repeats will fade early. This horse will push the others bur not good enough to win.
Run Classic is 12-1 odds to win and the thing this horse needs to do more is simply race. Probably not in the same class as the money horses just yet. Raw talent could surprise. Trained by Bret Calhoun. Usable in a trifecta is the way to go with this horse.
Son of Tapit, Proxy is a 7-2 odds to win. This horse is primed for the Louisiana Derby . His sire. Tapit. has produced three Belmont Stakes winners. Pedigree is here and this is the horse to beat.
Hot Rod Charlie is 3-1 odds to win. He finished third in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes. Finished second to Essential Quality in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile by less than a length. This might be a Wet Coast horse, Tough to figure this one out. Could win it all.
Mandaloun is at 8-5 to win, The sire of Into Mischief. Won the Risen Star Stakes with blinkers. Can this horse handle the distance and surroundings? For sure , this horse is a potential winner.
Midnight Bourbon – son of Tiznow and is 5-1 odds to win. This is a tough horse to chart, as it has lost where shouldn’t and has ran strong against good competition at other times. Also, has to navigate its way to the front. Trained by Steve Ausmussen.
O Besos is 15-1 odds to win and has trouble catching up but can maintain it position well. Doesn’t appear poised to win.
Louisiana Derby Picks
Proxy to win
The final bet is Proxy to win and place. Given his two recent runner-up finishes, the place bet is especially important in case he fails to finish off the job again. The blinkers are supposed to help. Proxy needs to stay at 3-1 or higher for fair odds.
Proxy, Mandaloun, Midnight Bourbon and Hot Rod Charlie is our order.
