On July 21, 2021 DraftKings Inc. revealed its plans to launch DraftKings Digital Marketplace, a digital collectibles ecosystem developed for mainstream accessibility offering curated NFT drops and assisting secondary-market transactions. Once put into action, millions of DraftKings customers will have the power to buy, sell and trade digital collectibles across sports, entertainment and culture using their existing DraftKings account.

It doesn’t end there as DraftKings Marketplace will also be the lone distributor of sports-related NFT content from a popular platform known as Autograph, which has relationships with prominent athletes and celebrities in efforts of providing a wide array of digital collectibles.

Gaining Insight into the DraftKings Digital Marketplace

DraftKings co-founder and president Matt Kalish shared his thoughts on the company’s latest move in saying, “The NFT boom has reinvented the collectibles industry and driven excitement to early-adopting audiences worldwide – including the DraftKings community. DraftKings Marketplace will sit at the center of this technological and cultural phenomenon, providing our immense existing customer base with an easily accessible experience that rivals all legacy marketplaces.”

Co-founder Kalish proceeded to highlight why developing a relationship with Autograph is so crucial in saying, “This initial vision in collaboration with Autograph, and its coveted collection of official digital collectibles, is a vital first step as we enter the emergent NFT market, We aim to usher in this new era by introducing millions of collectors to this evolving space while providing beloved content through an intuitive interface built to win over the long term.”

The “Pre-Season Access” collection will be the first drop on DraftKings Marketplace featuring NFTs of legendary athletes from Autograph’s roster of talent and partners. In addition, fans will have a chance to acquire preferred access to any future releases.

DraftKings Marketplace will also have the privilege of serving as a secondary-sale platform where customers can buy, sell and trade any digital collectibles bought within the marketplace community.

DraftKings isn’t the only party walking out of this deal with a smile across its face. Let’s not forget about who’s making this all possible: Autograph.

Founder and CEO of the NFT platform Autograph, Dillon Rosenblatt said, “As the world becomes more comfortable with digital ownership and collection, we see an incredible opportunity to bring users high-quality and personalized content from their favorite athletes, artists and franchises. NFTs are the perfect medium to connect users to both the things they love and those who share those interests, and we want to leverage today’s incredible partnerships to provide continued value to our community.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Autograph, to put it in simplest terms, it is an NFT platform that brings together the most iconic brands and legendary names in sports, entertainment, and culture to produce the most unique digital collections and experiences for fans around the world. Associated and co-founded by all-time great Tom Brady, Autograph seems only destined for success.

Born in Scarsdale, New York I grew up a big Rangers, Yankees, Giants, and Knicks fan. Confident in my knowledge in all sports, but consider myself an expert in the NHL, MLB and NFL. I participated in varsity hockey and golf throughout my four years of high school. Currently, I am enrolled at the University of Miami as a double major in psychology and sports administration. I am not sure what my future plans are, hopefully it involves sports.
