Lionel Messi, the legendary FC Barcelona Forward out of Argentina, has signed a 5-year contract to become the worldwide brand ambassador for Hard Rock.
The partnership comes along ahead of the 50th anniversary of the company. Jim Allen, the chairman of Hard Rock International, stated:
“As we reached our 50th anniversary milestone, we knew that we needed to partner with an icon to help us celebrate in a new and unexpected way, and there was no better choice than the legendary Lionel Messi.”
With the addition of Lionel Messi, arguably the best soccer player of all time, Hard Rock has added someone who will help the growth of the company. Having someone like Messi will help grow the fan base he has in Spain, his homeland of Argentina, and Barcelona fans everywhere in the world.
With Hard Rock already located in 68 countries and known to be a very recognizable brand, this addition will make them the biggest brand in their work if they are not already the biggest. Having a soccer player or footballer as an ambassador of your company is huge because everyone knows it is the biggest sport in the world, and having the best to ever do it as the ambassador is even bigger.
“Sports and music are an integral part of my life, a perfect combination between my profession and my leisure time. Uniting both is a great success, and I am very happy that they have counted on me for this special outcome. It is an honor to be the first athlete to partner with a brand that has a history of teaming with music legends,” stated Messi.
Allen and Messi have sealed this agreement with an original gift exchange. Messi has given him a signed replica of his golden ball, a gesture Allen has reciprocated with an electric guitar designed especially for Messi. A replica of this guitar, signed by the player, will be displayed at a Hard Rock property to be announced soon, making it part of the most valuable collection of musical objects in the world.
With Messi being linked to move to the MLS and Inter Miami being the biggest name, it is no shock that the Orlando-based company is looking to move its company to South Florida and connect with a player such as Messi, who may be heading that way soon as well.
