The legalization of sports betting continues to cultivate new deals between gaming houses and sports teams. This latest deal announced this week, has the New York Jets teaming with MGM Resorts International, in a marketing deal. This deal is a bit different than some of the earlier partnerships. Under the terms of this new deal MGM is now the official gaming partner of the New York Jets franchise. This latest partnership comes after a series of similar deals between various sports teams and casinos and gaming platforms.

After the Supreme Court overturned a ban on sports betting in 2018, it opened the floodgates for an explosive new industry. According to a source involved in the deal, this deal covers several years and ‘is one of the most comprehensive and integrated partnerships in the NFL to date.’

This Deal Is Multi Faceted & Features A Free Mobile App For Fans & MGM Grand Customers

In the beginning stages of the negotiating process of this current partnership, marketing was the central focus. However, this deal encompasses much more than marketing rights. This deal includes a specially developed app that Jets fans can use to during Jets games, it’s described as a ‘predictive interactive sports app’ and it’s called, ‘I Call It’ presented by Play MGM.

The MGM app, will be entirely hosted on the Jets‘ own app. It’s made possible by a sponsorship by MGM’s casino and sports betting app, ‘PlayMGM.’ Both partners to the deal, detailed some of the features of the app. It will have pre game features, exclusive prize offers, features of in-play that have been upgraded for this deal. The app will also prominently feature a leader-board with Jets fans. The gaming app will be accessible through the official New York Jets App, and be available for all home and away games. The NFL has adopted new rules and regulations to coincide with the 2018 Supreme Court ruling. The new rules allow for the formation of partnerships between NFL teams and gaming companies.

The New Gaming Jets MGM Gaming App Has Both Free & Paid Games

The new PlayMGM Jets app, has both free and paid game opportunistic and falls within the permissible NFL rules. Darren Rovell of ESPN explained that the new app is within the NFL guidelines because it includes both free and paid games, and can be promoted by the Jets franchise. Sports betting is part of the new Jet MGM partnership, according to Rovell. Scott Butera the president of MGM’s gaming interactive department, explained some of the theories behind the deal. Butera said “We can promote our app and our casino, which is valuable to us because it could lead to a sports betting customer. Even though the NFL wouldn’t allow us to have a specific call to action.” Butera added, “we love the demographics that the Jets fans provide. They have high household incomes in an area where sports betting is now legal.””
