Discussions are set for March 10th when Seabrook and Hampton Beach, will ask to be part of the ten licenses that are granted in the state for sports betting. The Town Hall meeting is scheduled to take place in Seabrook on March 10th. Local officials will ask voters to allow the two seaside communities to be allowed to have sports betting in their communities.

Each town and city in New Hampshire must request sports betting, and it must be approved by voters. The two communities are requesting that they be granted licenses so they can operate sports betting at two retail locations. One at Ocean Gaming at Hampton Beach and The Brook at Seabrook New Hampshire. Somersworth, New Hampshire, currently has sports betting up and running. New Hampshire currently allows sports betting on professional games and college games, with the exception of any college or universities in New Hampshire. Republican Governor Chris Sununu signed a sports betting bill into law in July of 2019.

There Will Be ten different retail locations that will have authorized sports betting operations, the specific locations have not been decided yet. The official launch for sports betting happened in December of 2019 and has had very impressive results. Now various cities and towns, want in on the booming industry. However, the coveted sports licenses are highly regulated, and will not be easy to come by, say, gaming experts.

The New Hampshire Lottery Commission (NHLC) oversees all facets of sports betting in the state. John Conforti of the NHLC said, “Online sports betting in the state is facilitated through DraftKings sportsbook. Conforti said this week, that sports betting, “Has been very successful.’ According to the NHLC who keeps collective data on sports betting, said that the first five weeks of sports betting brought in over a million bets. There are close to 37,000 registered sports bets users in the state. They placed sports bets totaling more than $28.6 million.

After An Extremely First Two Months Of Sports Betting Expansion Is On The Horizon

The ten weeks of sports betting in New Hampshire has brought in better than expected numbers, and now say officials it’s time to expand. DraftKings is the authorized sports betting provider for New Hampshire. Conforti said that only cities that voted in sports betting at retail locations will be considered for the coveted sports betting licenses. Conforti said because there are only 10 sports betting licenses that will be made available to various locations, there are no guarantees for anyone city or town.

Conforti further explained, “It is merely the town providing eligibility that they would welcome the establishment of both DraftKings , and at that point the Lottery Commission finds a city or town they want to partner with”. Conforti also revealed that currently established charitable gaming locations like Bingo Halls will have seniority over noncharities.
