UTA Signs TOGETHXR is the big news everyone keeps talking about!
On Thursday, the United Talent Agency signed TOGETHXR, a media and commerce company founded by four female Olympians. Two-time World Cup winner Alex Morgan, snowboarding prodigy and gold medalist Chloe Kim, four-time WNBA championship winner Sue Bird, and two-time gold medalist swimmer Simone Manuel launched this company in March of 2021.
UTA Signs TOGETHXR | A Closer Look
TOGETHXR is a company designed to elevate women’s voices, especially the voices of female athletes. Their mission is to “See her, hear her, elevate her, invest in her, believe in her, and to get her,” without sacrificing one’s femininity.
This company reaches and engages with young girls and women with a wide range of topics, including sports, diversity, wellness, activism, lifestyle, beauty, and fashion. They collaborate with other athletes, even producing video feature stories on female athletes who have not received adequate attention for their athleticachievements.
“The dynamic team at TOGETHXR has a vision for an entirely new brand that is so necessary, smart, and important to the current and future state of women empowerment,” Brandi Bowles, a publishing agent at UTA, said in a statement. “They are filling a huge market niche with an incredible sense of savviness and style, and big ideas for what comes next. We can’t wait to support them as they achieve their goals.”
TOGETHXR aims to help Gen Z and young millennials challenge society’s traditional views on women’s roles, break boundaries, and break glass ceilings in all fields, but in sports in general. Despite the rise in interest in women’s sports, men’s sports still dominate the media coverage. In fact, coverage on women’s sports has gone down even though the number of female athletes has risen.
Lack of coverage is a huge problem in women’s sports, and countless professional female athletes have called the sports media industry out on it, but unfortunately, with no real change. Tired of not being heard, these four Olympians decided they had had enough. They took matters into their own hands and created this company to uplift female voices and cover women’s sports in an industry that has always overrepresented men.
“This brand is certainly for this generation, it’s for our co-founders and their teammates, and this collective women’s sports landscape, but it’s really for the next generation,” TOGETHXR’s chief content officer, Jessica Robertson, said. “It’s so young girls can see themselves reflected in the stories that we tell, that they have a place to go that feels like they’re bigger than themselves, gives them something to aspire to, and to be seen and heard and recognized.”
Through their company TOGETHXR, Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Sue Bird, and Simone Manuel are changing the way the media covers women’s sports and female athletes. They have created a media platform to specifically amplify the voices and celebrate the accomplishments of their fellow female athletes, hoping to change the way the world views women’s sports and female athletes. Through social media, they are bringing female athletes and their achievements the attention that they truly deserve and have been deprived of for far too long.
