The Tigers will host the Angels for a three-game set starting on Tuesday evening. Los Angeles took three of four games from Detroit back in June.
The Angels avoided a sweep from the Astros by winning their last game out. They only managed to muster six runs in three games, and with each loss, they continue to drop in the AL Wild Card picture.
The Tigers ended their series against the Indians with a 0-11 defeat Sunday. It was their largest loss since the All-Star break, and they’ve been one of the best teams in the AL since the Midsummer Classic.

On the Mound
Dylan Bundy (2-9, 6.17 ERA) will get the start for the Angels. After pitching solid in his first year in Los Angeles (6-3), he’s really struggling this season. Bundy was pulled from the starting rotation and placed in the bullpen last month.
He’s returned and responded well in his last two starts, only giving up three runs while tossing six strikeouts. He started the opener of their last series with Detroit, but he only lasted four innings before being pulled.
Casey Mize (6-6, 3.66 ERA) will take the mound for the Tigers. The former number-one overall pick back in 2018 is enjoying a pretty good rookie season. He leads the team in ERA and he’s grown into the Tigers best starter, but he’s still struggled with first-year inconsistencies. In his previous start against the Angels in June, Mize gave up three runs in five innings of work and threw four strikeouts.
Which will it be?

Angels vs Tigers Pick
Detroit’s play since the All-Star break has been admirable. They’ve won thirteen of their last eighteen games at home, while the Angels have been one of the more inconsistent teams on the road.
Dylan Bundy’s form has been questionable, while Casey Mize only continues to grow and get better as he approaches the end of his rookie season. We see Detroit taking the opening game of this three-game set at home.
