The Milwaukee Brewers may have lost the rubber match against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday but still, maintain a five-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds who have won eight of their last ten games. However, the Brewers will send Freddy Peralta who is a part of the three-headed monster in the starting rotation.

Peralta has an 8-3 record, 2.21 ERA, and 0.89 WHIP 114.0 innings pitched. On the road, he is just as effective. Peralta has a 4-2 record, a 2.51 ERA, and a 1.071 WHIP over 46.2 innings. Let’s dive in a bit further about how good of a pitcher he is when he takes the mound.

Right-handed hitters hit a .135 average with a .217 wOBA in 52.0 innings. On the other hand, left-handed batters hit .137 with a .241 wOBA in 62.0 innings. His FIP is 3.03 and is working with a team that averages 4.5 runs per game which is good for 14th in the league.

Milwaukee is slugging .389 which is good for 22nd in the league, but they have won nine of their last twelve games against the Cubs. The series against the Giants was definitely tough for the Brewers but this is where the team can recover and improve before a potential matchup in the postseason.

CHICAGO CUBS PREVIEW

The Chicago Cubs have to carry on the rest of the way with this lineup as they are 2-8 in their last ten games and have won 10 games in their last 38 games. Still, the Cubs did the right thing as they freed up a lot of payroll moving forward with some upcoming prospects.

On Sunday, the Cubs were able to put up three runs against Dylan Cease but were ultimately shut out by the bullpen for the next four innings. Reynaldo Lopez was the only pitcher that gave up a hit out of the pen. However, he and Jose Ruiz combined for three innings and six strikeouts. Ryan Tepura also had a quick inning of work in the eighth.

The Cubs will have Alec Mills on the mound today. He has a 5-4 record coming into Monday, a 4.41 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP in 69.1 innings of work on the year. He has one save on his resume this season.

Right-handed batters are hitting a 275 average with a .306 wOBA in 40.0 innings. On the other hand, left-handed hitters hit .298 with a .378 wOBA in 29.1 innings. His FIP is 4.25 this season and for his career gives up 8.4 hits per 9 innings.

The Cubs are currently tied with the Brewers for the 27th best batting average in the league but have a tough task ahead. Brewers pitchers have given up 110 long balls in addition to 413 total runs, which is good for 2nd in baseball. The Brewers pitching staff also makes opposing batters struggle as they have a combined batting average of .213.
