CARDINALS NEWS

The Cardinals didn’t play on Monday. They will begin a 3-game series at Busch Stadium with the New York Mets. On Tuesday it will be Luke Weaver vs Steven Matz, Wednesday finds Michael Wacha on the hill and Thursday will be Carlos Martinez.

MINOR LEAGUE RESULTS

Memphis won 3-0 as Austin Gomber struck out 16 batters eight innings of work. He also allowed six hits and no runs. The game started with the only three runs of the game coming off the bats of the first three in the Redbirds lineup.

NOTE: Gomber is on the same rotation schedule as Adam Wainwright. It is possible Gomber may get the call for this one on Saturday.

Oscar Mercado doubled to begin the game. Max Schrock singled him home for a one-run lead. Yairo Munoz hit a 2-run homer and that was all the runs needed.

Springfield held on to win 6-5. John Nogowski added 3 hits and 3 RBI’s with a home run. Catcher Andrew Knizner was 2-for4 in the win. Ramon Urias was 3-for-4 with a home run.

Chris Ellis got the win with six strong innings. He was followed to the mound by Estarlin Arias, Andrew Morales, and Hector Mendoza.

Palm Beach was rained out and will play a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Peoria lost in 10 innings to Beloit. Bryan Dobzanski suffered the loss by allowing a walk and a hit in extra innings. Winston Nicasio started the contest and allowed five hits in 5.1 innings of work.

Six different players each had a single for the Chiefs as Dylan Carlson drove in the only run for Peoria. Machado, Montero, Yepez, Carlson, and Figura got the other singles.
