CARDINALS NEWS: The Cardinals jumped on the Reds for three runs in the first as Yadier Molina doubled in two runs. another run was added after a one out walk to Tommy Pham and a double by Jose Martinez. The Cardinals never scored again and Bud Norris enter the 9th inning and struggled but held on for a 4-2 win for the Cardinals and Michael Wacha.
MINOR LEAGUE RESULTS
Memphis managed on three hits and they were all singles in a 5-0 loss to Omaha. Carson Kelly, Patrick Wisdom, and Wilfredo Tovar got the team hits. Daniel Poncedeleon (1-1) took the loss as he went 6IP/7H/1ER/1BB/4K. However, it was Arturo Reyes that struggled by allowing five hits and three runs in the loss.
Springfield lost a slugfest 10-7 to Arkansas. Tommy Edman had three hits including a triple and Andrew Knizner also added three hits and three runs batted in. John Nogowski added two hits in the loss. Five Chiefs pitchers couldn’t hold Arkansas down and Sam Tewes started and last 1.2 innings after giving up three runs. Ramon Santos suffered the loss.
Palm Beach lost 4-3 to the Port Charlotte Stone Crabs Friday night. The Cardinals saw Stefan Trosclair get two hits including his 3rd home run of the season. Evan Mendoza, Shane Billings, and JB Woodman each got two hits. Austin Warner started the game and went five innings in which he allowed eight hits, four earned runs, no walks, and fanned three batters. Jesus Cruz was on the mound for one inning and allowed no runs and struck out one batter. Colton Thomson finished the game with two innings but was unscored upon.
Peoria came out on top 6-2 as YAriel Gonzalez had a big night with the bat as he went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 runs batted in. Edwin Figuera also homered and knock tow runs in. Johan Oviedo got the win with six strong innings.
