Cardinals Prospect Levi Prater is the Cardinals 30th top prospect.in 2022. He was selected by Cardinals in third round (93rd pick) of the 2020 draft; signed June 19, 2020. He played this past season at Low A Palm Beach and had some issues. His numbers were not eye popping. His record was 1-9 in 68 IP he walked 68 batters and allowed 63 hits and 51 earned runs but did strike out 104 batters.
In college at Oklahoma with the Sooners, he was second team Academic Big 12 All-Conference selection in 2020. He was their Saturday starter and went 1-0 and sported a 3.42 ERA when COVID shortened the season. He went to high school in Ada,OK.
His pitching style shows he has a crossfire motion with a low 90’s fastball and a slider that comes in near 80 mph. the ball has motion to his pitching arm side. He has a change pitch that need more refinement to keep moving up the chain.
Levi Prater projects to be a middle reliever but can continue to start if he shows improvement in several areas. The Cardinals continue to stick with him as a starter he could develop into a useful back of the rotation pitcher for them.He is projected to arrive in 2023 in the major leagues.
