College baseball countdown – The countdown is about to be getting shorter as is the actual beginning of the college baseball season. Look for the finish to near February 10th.
Baseball Spotlight moves to #12 as one of the best in 2023. This spot belongs to the UCLA Bruins.Head coach John Savage is entering his 22nd year with a 717-490-2 record.
They open the 2023 season in Los Angeles at Jackie Robinson Field on February 17-19 against Omaha and follow on Wednesday with Pepperdine at home. The first game on the road is against perennial powerhouse Vanderbilt in Nashville from Feb 24-26.
One of the Bruins’ top arms will not be able to pitch this spring following a season-ending surgery.

In 2022, The Bruins won 40 games but came up short in the playoffs. One leftover that could help is junior right-hander Jared Karros, he is returning from a back injury.
Other arms that could make this an outstanding rotation will be:right-handers sophomore Jake Brooks, freshman Thatcher Hurd, redshirt sophomore Kelly Austin and freshman lefty Ethan Flanagan.
