The 2021 MLB Playoffs are underway, meaning baseball fans throughout the United States are living and dying with every single pitch. There is nothing quite like baseball in October, and stress and anxiety levels go through the roof this month.
Cubs fans don’t have to worry about that this October as the Cubs have been eliminated from playoff contention for weeks. Some might consider this a disappointment, but it’s better to view this as a positive.
Being a baseball fan in October is hard work, especially when you root for the Cubs. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions since 2015, and it’s a great time for a reset. Sure, it’s disappointing to not see another World Series title, but it’s time to let another team have some glory.
It’s been a great and stressful ride since the Cubs burst onto the scene in 2015, but it’s time for that ride to take a short pause before picking up steam once again.
Still Baseball to Watch
Just because the Cubs aren’t participating in the MLB Playoffs it doesn’t mean that you can’t tune in to the games. You will likely find that you enjoy watching baseball again and your blood pressure will stay within the normal range.
Kris Bryant will be battling it out for the San Francisco Giants, and Kyle Schwarber will be blasting home runs for the Boston Red Sox. You can also root for whatever team is playing the White Sox in hopes of their season crumbling in the ALDS.
The good news is that you won’t be living and dying with every pitch, and there won’t be any late nights against teams from the West Coast. You can leave the room to go eat dinner or use the restroom and don’t have to worry about disaster striking when you are away.
Plenty of Other Sports to Watch
It is understandable if you don’t know what to watch or who to follow without the Cubs playing in October, but there are some other sporting events to watch. The NFL season is well underway, and the Chicago Bears have gotten off to a decent 2-2 start.
The biggest news surrounding the Bears is that Justin Fields is now set to take over the offense, and that will be a story to keep your eye on. The Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls have both started preseason as well, and each team should be a playoff contender this season.
This is a great time to check out some of the other teams in Chicago, and you might even find a new team to root for. If that doesn’t work, you can always head outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather that is setting in.
Take this time to relax, rejuvenate, and refresh because there will be Cubs baseball back on the air soon. It’s hard to know what 2022 and beyond will look like, but you will soon be feeling the stresses of October baseball.
