Cardinals Daily Sports Briefing

Here is your Daily Cardinals Sports Briefing for Monday, April 10, 2017.

St. Louis Cardinals

Some things never change. Some things are downright maddening. That would be the start of the 2017 season for the Cardinals. The Washington Nationals put a whipping on the Cardinals and won handily 14-6. Adam Wainwright looks very average. Maybe below average. I think I am sick. Jedd Gyorko hit a late home run and earlier in the game Kolten Wong doubled off the wall. But it was the pitching that stunk. Cecil, Siegrist and Broxton were all very bad. They allowed the Washington Nationals to bang out 19 hits and Bryce Harper was 4-for-4, Adam Eaton 3-for-4 and Stephen Drew had three hits. Again, I think I am sick!

Triple-A

Redbirds Make 9th Inning a Winner

Luke Voit had 3 RBI’s and  launched a home run in the top of the 9th inning with the Redbirds trailing by a run to make it the game winning hit. Anthony Garcia also homered in the game. Josh Zeid in his first start got roughed up by allowing 5 runs on 5 hits in four innings of work. Josh Brebbia, Ryan Sherriff and Rowan Wick closed out the game as Wick was the winner of record.

Next Game: Tuesday at AutoZone Park with Daniel Poncedeleon as the starter. 7:05 CT
