The MLB season is long and very unpredictable, however, when you have arguably the two greatest baseball talents of the last decade you have to make the playoffs. This article will explain why the Los Angeles Angels need to make the playoffs.
Shohei Ohtani
Shohei Ohtani has been taking the baseball world by storm ever since he entered the league, and I personally believe he is a better hitter than pitcher but with the AL pitchers having down season to start the year, Ohtani has dominated in his starts and is creating distance between him and the other pitchers.
Shohei has an amazing fastball-slider combination that he uses the most when dealing with hitters, but it is splitter than may be the best pitch in baseball. All three look like fastballs but end up in spots 1-2 feet apart.
He is taking the baseball world by storm and to think he will only win one MVP is crazy to me so take this bet to the bank and trust that Shohei Ohtani will win the second MVP of his career. Will a player of this caliber having zero postseason games in his career so far is just a tragedy.
Mike Trout
Mike Trout is a three time MVP and four time runner-up and has only been in the playoffs one time in his career. Trout is on pace to be one of the five greatest players to ever play the game with his five tool skills set.
Trout has dealt with injuries over the last couple of years and it looks like his prime might be coming to an end soon. So, the Los Angeles Angels have to do whatever it takes to make the playoffs this season so they don’t waste the career of one of the greatest players ever.
For the Los Angeles Angels Fans
If making the playoffs isn’t enough for their two generational players, the Los Angeles Angels owe it to the fans of the MLB to make the playoffs. Derek Jeter, Albert Pujols, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Miguel Cabrera, and so many more generational players all got a chance to shine on the biggest stage.
If Trout and Ohtani never have that chance it will be the biggest tragedy in the last 20 years of the MLB. Fans want to see the two best players in the league play in October when legends are made.
Regardless if they cheer for the Angels or not, look at other sports like the NFL, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes are all hated by certain fan bases, but they still drew the best rating ever for their playoff games.
This is because regardless if you like them or not, any true sports fan wants to see what the great ones can do when it matters most.
