Here is Part 2 for the MLB Power Rankings for this week. This is also very interesting as many sites have this part of the list in a different order. The Chicago Cubs have played so well as a unit and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in another slump, but will most likely win the NL West Division by the end of the season. The New York Yankees and the New York Mets are still on the outside looking in and the Houston Astros can have a strong case to move up in the Top 10 next week.

10. OAKLAND ATHLETICS (33-25)

The Oakland Athletics have been up and down since their amazing streak; however, the team still ranks 22nd in batting average as their team is built around power hitters. The A’s have been swept and have swept teams after their hot stretch. The organization always competes with limited payroll as they hold a half-a-game lead over the Houston Astros for the top spot in the AL West.

9. MILWAUKEE BREWERS (29-26)

The Milwaukee Brewers have won five straight games before losing to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. The Brewers are another team that has dealt with injuries but their pitching rotation is the key to success for this team.

Freddy Peralta has earned his respect by having a great season so far with a 5-1 record, 2.38 ERA, has 83 strikeouts, 0.92 WHIP in 56.2 innings. However, Brandon Woodruff has been even better. Woodruff has been lights out by tossing 14 scoreless innings in his two starts last week, and he has a 4-2 record, 1.27 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts in 71 innings.

8. SAINT LOUIS CARDINALS (31-25)

The Saint Louis Cardinals were thought to have an easy run in the NL Central, and it has been more difficult than expected. The Cardinals are 5-5 in their last 10 games, and the Chicago Cubs took full advantage of that. However, the bullpen has been very effective in many situations.

Yadier Molina is proving that he can rake at the plate, and still be an effective player as he approaches the age of 39. He is currently hitting .284/.313/.511. As a fan, this is great to see him do this at this stage of his career.

7. LOS ANGELES DODGERS (33-23)

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to get back on track after the blowout 14-3 victory against the Saint Louis Cardinals. Before that, they lost four of their last six games. Losing three out of four to your rival in a close race in arguably the best division in the MLB is never easy to overlook.

The Dodgers need a few of their key players back from injury. When the season is at its end, this team should be at the top position in the NL West.

6. CHICAGO CUBS (32-23)

The Chicago Cubs were seen as potential sellers as their main trio which includes Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Javier Baez are all on their contract year. The bullpen has been lights out as the bullpen went over 38 innings without giving up a run.

This just recently came to an end, but the Cubs are doing well even though the team is dealing with a few injuries. The Cubs have won nine of their last eleven games, most recently sweeping the San Diego Padres. I don’t think the Cubs are sellers now, but things could change as they have a tough schedule ahead.
