MINOR LEAGUES
Memphis (AAA)– The Redbirds lost to the Iowa Cubs 3-1 on Tuesday. Three players for Memphis got two hits each as they are Luke Voit, Wilfredo Tovar and Breyvic Valera. Marco Gonzales started the game and took the loss (1-2) as he went seven innings and allowed four hits along with two earned runs and fanned six Iowa batters. Trey Nielsen finished the game and allowed one hit and one run in two innings of work. The game lasted 2 hours and 24 minutes in front of 3,085 fans. The Memphis Redbirds have Wednesday off and will not play.
Springfield (AA)– The Cardinals defeated Corpus Christi 4-3 with a run in the 9th inning. Kevin Herget (1-2) was the fourth pitcher of record for Springfield and he picked up the win even though he allowed on run in 1.1 innings of work. Chris Ellis started and threw five innings but Corpus Christi got to him for seven hits and two earned runs. Chandler Hawkins pitched a scoreless inning and Corey Baker went 1.2 innings without surrendering a run. Dickie Joe Thon had two hits including his 3rd homer of the season and Gabriel Lino smacked two doubles in the win. Dakota Hudson (2-2, 3.11 ERA) will start the next game with a 6:30ET start.
Palm Beach (High-A)– The PB Cardinals were winners on Tuesday night 5-2 over the Lakeland Tigers. Tommy Edman provided the offense with three hits in four at-bats along with 3 RBI’s in the game. Randy Arozarena had a triple and went 2-for-4 in the contest. Zac Gallen almost completed the game as he went 8.2 innings and allowed four hits and one earned run with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Brennan Leitao pitched 0.1 and allowed one hit and one run. Derian Gonzalez (2-5, 5.02 ERA) will get the start at Roger Dean Stadium which is scheduled for a 6:30ET first pitch.
Peoria (Low-A)- The Chiefs held on and defeated Wisconsin 6-5. Brian O’Keefe had two hits including his 4th homer of the season. Andy Young continued his hot hitting with his 9th bomb of the year. Bryan Dobzanski garnered his first win (1-4) of the year with five innings allowing five hits and three earned runs. Dewin Perez followed him to the mound as did Max Altomonte and Yeison Medina. Mike O’Reilly gets the ball for the start on Wednesday at Dozer Park.

Adolis Garcia got one hit in the game. He is batting .278 for the yer. He also coaxed his 15th walk and got caught stealing for the 5th time this year.
Magneuris Sierra got one hit in five plate appearances and now is batting .278.
Harrison Bader was hitless and batting .279.
Breyvic Valera is batting .280 and was 2-for-4 last night
Randy Arozarena smacked his 2nd triple of the year and was 2-for-4 with one RBI. He is hitting .268.
Edmundo Sosa is batting .269 after getting one hit.

Paul DeJong went hitless in the major leagues and is batting .375
