CARDINALS NEWS
The Cardinals defeated the Diamondbacks behind decent pitching of Michael Wacha (1-1) and timely hitting. Jose Martinez smacked a 3-run homer to provide the lead and the eventual game winning hit as he also had 2 hits and finished with 4 RBI’s. Marcell Ozuna provided 3 hits in the game. Several relief pitchers finished the game with Bud Norris completing the 9th by fanning Paul Goldschmidt to earn him the save. Luke Weaver will get the Sunday start in the rubber game of the series.

MINOR LEAGUE RESULTS
AAA-Memphis defeated Round Rock 11-6 behind the offense again tonight. Tyler O’Neill hit another home run which is his 3rd in 2 games and had 2 runs batted in. Several players added 2 hits in the game which include Adolis Garcia, Patrick Wisom, Alex Mejia and Wilfredo Tovar.
On the hill, Austin Gomber started and finished with 4IP/4H/2ER/4BB/4K and was releived by Arturo Reyes as he picked up the win with 2IP/3H2ER/1BB/3K. Edward Mujica nd Preston Guilmet completed the game on the mound.
AA-Springfield lost 10-1 to Midland as the early pitching didn’t fare well. Conner Greene started with 1.2IP/3H/3ER/2BB/2K and Tyler Bray allowed 1.2IP/3H/2ER/0BB/1K in the contest. Jason Evans, Estarlin Arias and Brady Bowen finished on the mound. The offense was stagnant with only for=ur hits but the big hit came off the bat of Chris Chinea with a home runs. Luke Dykstra, Jeremy Martinez and Lane Thomas each had one hit in the loss.
High A-Palm Beach- The PB Cardinals won their second consecutive game with a 7-3 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads. Kramer Robertson banged out 3 hits while Chase Pinder hit a home run and drove in three runs. Shane Billings had three hits in the game and Stefan Tosclair smack a home run and the Cardinals scored one in the 8th inning and three more in the 9th.
Greg Holland got the start as he threw one inning and allowed one hit while fanning one Hammerhead batter. He was followed to the hill by Luke Gregerson for one inning with no hits allowed and struck out two batters. Mike O’Reilly, Yeison Medina, Jesus Cruz and Jason Zgardowski finished the game.
Low A- Peoria went down in defeat in a frigid contest at Dozer Park 9-23to the Burlington Bees. Designated Hitter Juan Yepez had two hit in the game including a double and Taylor Bryant (2B) had two hits in the game. Nick Plummer had the only other extra base hit with a double . Yariel Gonzalez left six batters on base in the loss. The Chiefs debut of prospect Johan Oviedo didn’t go well 01IP/0H/5ER/5BB/0K and then Ken Hamann followed along with 2.1IP/5H/4ER/3BB/2K and the game was out of reach. Three other pitchers finished out the game.
