From Inglewood, California comes Bellator 214 with the main event featuring Fedor Emelianenko vs. Ryan Bader on January 26, 2019. This will be a 5 fight card and will be seen on the Paramount network and DAZN streaming services. The card will be a great event. Let’s dive into the main event.

The winner will be crowned the Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix champion. The uniqueness comes in the fact that if Bader wins this event he will become the first double winner in Bellator history.

Main Event

The last fight of each fighter was not a common affair for either. Fedor won over a clearly beyond his prime Chael Sonnen as many feels are where Fedor is at in his career. Bader won over two easy opponents in Matt Mitrione and King No Lawai for a cakewalk to this event.

Fedor has absorbed plenty of punishment over his long career but quite possibly no one like Bader can inflict on him. But on the other hand, in his prime, he was very difficult to beat and is very durable with some fantastic fighting power.

Bader has five career losses and three of them came through a knockout. If Fedor gets a clear punch, it could be all over for him. Bader is the best when he uses his ground to pound techniques and is more in his prime in a fighters career.

Pick: With all of this said, we will go with Bader to win due to their stage of careers and lack of durability from Fedor. Look for Bader to punch his way to victory early in the fight. Maybe even the first round.

Other Fights on the Card:

Aaron Pico vs. Henry Corrales

This fight as some intrigue but Pico is the better fighter and has more ability in his punch. Corrales can make this a longer fight than many believe but take Pico with the TKO.

Jake Hager vs. JW Kiser

Hager enters with the most experience and likely could wrestle Kier to a win but experience also equates to age. Look for Kiser to surprise them all and defeat the 36-yr old Jake Hager.

Juan Archuleta vs. Ricky Bandejas

This could turn out to be the best fight on the card. Look for this bantamweight event to go the distance as  Archuleta is 21-1 with 3 Bellator wins, and Bandejas is 11-1. It was the win over James Gallagher that sold me on Bandejas. Look for Bandejas to win by decision.

Adel Altamimi vs. Brandon McMahan

This is the first Bellator fight for both fighters and neither have great records coming into this event. In fact, many wonder why it is even being fought. Take Altamimi in this fight.
