Russia as a country deviates from the social norm mean. Khabib Nurmagomedov used to wrestle bears as a child and his father was praised by Vladimir Putin for raising such a tough fighter. The government sponsored a doping scandal in the 2018 Sochi Olympics, and in the 2022 Games, a 15-year-old just got caught with an illegal substance.
Russia’s mentality is different, and I love it because it leads to some electric content. Today, I was scrolling through Twitter, and I came across Russian Telephone Booth Fighting. It looks exactly how it sounds.
Two dudes step into a telephone booth and beat the living crap out of each other for three one-minute rounds. There are no weight classes, and pretty much anything goes in the booth. Fighters do not wear gloves or headgear, and the fight won’t stop unless someone is unresponsive.
If you love competition, this battle to the death is something you need to watch. The tournament took place back in December, and it was sponsored by Punch Club, a Russian fighting promotion.

There is no denying fighting in a telephone booth with no padding enhances the risk of injury. However, this is Russia in a nutshell. Russians do crazy shit, and it’s entertaining as hell.
The promotion received a lot of backlash for allowing this to occur, but I do not want to hear any of that. This is crazy, innovative, and extremely fun to watch.
I would not recommend stepping into a telephone for a bare-knuckle brawl, but if it floats someone’s boat, I am down to watch anytime.
I will be glued to the TV if we get another Punch Club Telephone Booth pay-per-view brawl. If not, I cannot wait to see the next storyline coming out of Russia. The country is just built different.
