Saturday Fight Night is on June 18th the UFC will host a fight night at the moody center in Austin Texas. I’m looking forward to this event because it will showcase a strong lineup of athletic fighters. My eyes will be locked on the main event fight.

Calvin Kattar, the Massachusetts native, will face off against Josh Emmet. Kattar is a 5’11 146lb striker with impressive height and reach. Kattar is currently 23-5 and is ranked 6th on ESPN. Kattar said, “he does whatever he can to win- won’t be looking for a way out unless it’s with his hand raised.”

His opponent Emmet is 5’6 145lbs and has some of the most impressive knockouts in the sport. Emmet is currently the 8th-ranked fighter on ESPN and has recently returned to fighting after overcoming an injury to his leg. “When horrible things happen to people you either become wounded or you become wise- the more things that have happened to me I’ve just become smarter” – Josh Emmet

Saturday Fight Night- Skilled Featherweights

I’m excited to watch this fight as these are two of the best featherweight fighters in the sport. Calvin Kattar has lost once previously by submission and 4 times by the judge’s decision.

Coming off a victory against Giga Chikadze by unanimous decision, Kattar is ready to fight. Josh Emmet is 17-2 and won his last fight against Dan Ige by unanimous decision 6 months ago.

The main card will showcase a flurry of fighters from many different classes. Donald Cerrone will take on Joe Lauzon in a lightweight much up before the main event.

Cerrone is 36-16 and is nicknamed “cowboy.” This American kickboxer is extremely talented. His opponent is Joe Lauzon who currently has a record of 28-16.

Both are respectable fighters and I’m very excited for the fight as well Lauzon is the underdog in this fight. If he can land heavy strikes early, he will have a chance to win this fight.

Being able to lay the pressure on the cowboy early in the match will allow him to gain control of the fight early per Cerrone is known to be slow to start a fight.

Saturday Fight Night-Predictions

Calvin Kattar is a skilled fighter and has proven his striking ability numerous times. Despite Kattars talents, I believe that Josh Emmet has the advantage in this fight and will end up beating Kattar by knockout. across the board, I believe Josh Emmet is the better fighter.

Emmet is battling a size disadvantage, but I don’t think that will be enough to stop him. If Emmet is able to get close to Kattar and land a clean punch it might be a short fight. Emmet with the smaller size is the better grappler and has better defense and mobility than Kattar.

On the other hand, if Kattar is able to maintain his distance and use his size to his advantage he may be able to win this fight. Both of these fighters a looked for a shot at the title and are taking a step closer towards the belt on Saturday.
