Robert Whittaker vs Marvin Vettori UFC Fight Night Betting Preview

UFC Fight Night comes to Paris on September 3rd for the first ever UFC card in France.

Robert Whittaker Betting Preview: The Reaper Returns

Robert Whittaker has been a staple of the UFC for almost 10 years now, and after winning TUF he fought in the Welterweight division. Following a few tough weight cuts and KO losses, Whittaker decided to move up to 185 pounds, a weight class that has suited him much better. At the new weight class Whittaker is a perennial number one contender, only having lost to Israel Adesanya at 185 pounds. He is 11-2 with four KO victories at Middleweight

Whittaker is coming off of a split decision loss to Adesanya, but apart from that fight had won three straight fights. All three were very obvious and convincing decisions for Whittaker, an Australian striker who is known to throw hard and fast punches, followed by head kicks. The diverse striker will look to put it all together this weekend against a durable opponent with lots of stamina.

Whittaker’s main focus this weekend will be to strike early and often. His opponent at the UFC Fight Night, Marvin Vettori, is a good pressure fighter but does not have the technical ability that Whittaker does. If Rob can keep him at range and throw constantly, he could cruise to decision victory.

Marvin Vettori Betting Preview: Italian Stallion

Marvin Vettori is an Italian fighter, which means that this will be an exciting fight week as he is closer to home than usual. With the fights taking place in Paris, Marvin will have a chance to put on a show for his European fans, and he’ll have his hands full Saturday night. Vettori is a very skilled grappler who is 8-3-1 in the Middleweight division, his only losses coming to Israel Adesanya twice and Antonio Carlos Jr. once.

Vettori’s fights with Adesanya were highlighted by Vettori’s pressure grappling. In almost all of his fights, Vettori pressures insanely hard, swings wildly, and dives for takedowns in an attempt to hold you down, beat you up, and wear you out. It’s a good game plan and it works on almost everybody. However, he’ll be facing Whittaker who has some of the best takedown defense in Middleweight history. Vettori is going to have to grapple heavily and hope Whittaker isn’t able to get back up, because Marvin’s striking will not match up to Whittakers.

Whittaker vs Vettori Betting Odds, Lines, and Matchup

The betting odds for this UFC Fight Night currently sit around -220 for Whittaker and +180 for Vettori. The odds for this fight have stayed pretty consistent, although for a brief moment it appeared Whittaker was going to end up being closer to around -250, but those lines evened out from money on Vettori. Vettori has never been finished in his career, and in a three round fight I expect Whittaker to put on a show. For that reason, Whittaker by decision at -115 is my favorite bet of the weekend.
