Atlanta Hawks at Philadelphia 76ers – The two best words in sports: GAME 7! And now as fans, we have yet another one to enjoy. The Bucks stunned the Nets on the road on Saturday night, and now Atlanta hopes to do the same to the top seed in the conference. Having already won twice in Philly in this series, this is not the craziest idea.

The Hawks have a lot of their eggs in the Trae Young basket, and he’s going to have to do a lot for them to have a chance. But, he’s built for this. He has been coming through in a big way all playoffs long, and if he can do it today, they may well have a chance. He’s done a lot of this while being guarded by the defensive player of the year runner-up Ben Simmons, who is more than 10-11 inches taller than him.

The 76ers on the other hand have not made a conference finals since the prime days of Allen Iverson. Remember when he stepped over Tyronn Lue in the 2001 Finals? Well, the series they won before that marks their most recent conference finals appearance. They have not been able to get past round two with their core, so this is another chance to finally make it happen.

Should the team lose this game, there may be some serious internal repercussions.

Betting Odds & Lines

Hawks Seek Major Upset

It was only six years ago that Atlanta last made the conference finals. But, it feels like a long time because they have had a few coaches com through since then. They have been in the lottery. A place where they found the talent leading them to the wins right now, in John Collins and Trae Young.

Young has just been so good for them all playoffs, after dealing with slander about his game all year. He was not even considered an All-Star. He was snubbed off All-NBA to the point that he got ZERO votes. Despite the voting coming after the postseason began, or at least released then. He and Collins have shed whatever negative labels people had on them with their playoff efforts.

Even without DeAndre Hunter, the team is in prime position. They have two road wins in the series. They have battled closely in most games. They have a 26-point comeback. If Trae can stay cool, the team can limit turnovers and then win the 3-point game, they are advancing.

Philly Seeks to Advance

The 76ers can move on in one of two ways tonight. They can move on from Ben Simmons or other key guys that have struggled to impact the game in their biggest moments. They can also move on to the next round of the playoffs, literally. There is a lot still to be determined.

Doc Rivers has come to Philly with a new voice, and helped the team be great. They ran through the Wizards in round 1. They finished with the best record in a conference featuring the Nets and Bucks. The team has found a way to win, and been very good under the new tutelage. A lot has to happen for them to win, but the recipe is still pretty simple.

Philly needs a steady dose of Tobias Harris and a lot of Joel Embiid. He will likely need to play 40+ minutes, as the team should look to limit Dwight Howard’s run out there. The more Embiid plays, the more Capela does. He can foul him out if he’s in for longer.

A 76ers win will come from a 25-point Seth Curry outing, Simmons trying to score, and making anybody but Trae beat them.

Sports Writer by day, Sports Broadcaster by night. When I’m not doing either of these things, I’m probably playing pickup basketball at the park, or watching whatever NBA game is on the evening’s slate. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t try and learn more about the players in today’s league, as well as the history of them. I’m considered to be an anomaly with my sports fandoms as a Cavaliers, Ravens and Nationals fan.
