This Tuesday, February 8th, the Utah Jazz will be hosting the Boston Celtics. This will be the first time these two teams meet this season.
The (12-10) Celtics are fourth in the Eastern Conference and are taking on a difficult challenge against the (19-5) Western Conference leaders. The Boston Celtics have lost the last 6 out of their last 10 games.
In those last 10, they have averaged 111.2 points, 42.8 rebounds, and 22.2 assists. Bostons’ opponents have averaged 108.9 points on 48% shooting.
The Celtics have dealt with a number of injuries this year but have been able to put up decent performances to keep them in good positioning. The Celtics hope to have Jaylen Brown back in action who has been dealing with a knee injury.
Brown leads the Celtics averaging 11.2 points in the paint so having him back would have a huge impact on the game.
They are also missing Romeo Langford and more importantly Marcus Smart. Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker are both going to need to play a great game to beat this unstoppable looking Jazz team.
Tatum has been incredible against some of the best teams in the NBA this season including both the Clippers and Lakers.
Tatum leads the Celtics averaging 3.2 made 3-pointers while scoring 27 points per game and shooting 41% from behind the arc. Walker has averaged 3.2 assist and 13.4 points over the last 10 games.
Expected starters for the Celtics are Jaylen Brown (G), Kemba Walker (G), Jayson Tatum (SF), Grant Williams (PF), and Daniel Theis (C).
The surprising conference-leading Jazz come into this game on a hot streak winning 9 of their last 10 matchups. Donovan Mitchell is leading the team averaging 23.5 points per game.
Rudy Gobert is going to be a key player in this game as he leads the team in rebounds averaging 13.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. The 7’1 center has been shooting an incredible 60.8% from the field averaging 13.3 points per game.
Gobert will have his work cut out for him in the paint as he will be going up against Tristan Thompson and Daniel Theis. This will be an exciting big man match up to watch.
Aside from Mitchell and Gobert point guard Jordan Clarkson has been a phenom off the bench averaging 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, proving he is a big contributor to the Jazz.
The Boston Celtics are set at +146 for the moneyline and at +4(-110) for the spread. The Utah Jazz has been placed at -174 for the moneyline and at -4(-110) for the spread.
The Jazz are favorites to win this game as they are on a hot streak and will most likely continue to win. Both teams are filled with talent but the Celtics have been dealing with injuries and irregular play in many games. The Jazz win this one handily.
