Brooklyn Nets vs Utah Jazz Betting Pick. Two of the more prominent teams heading into the season are both struggling to find their footing in the early goings of the season. The Nets are 3-4 in the first seven games and the Jazz are 4-2 through their first six games. Unfortunately, Nets star forward, Kevin Durant, will be held out of this game due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

Three of the Nets four losses have come within five points, they’re in the games until the very end but just cannot get a basket to go down in crunch time. The Jazz as a team haven’t been struggling as they show a winning record, but their max contract superstar Donovan Mitchell hasn’t looked like the player we’re used to seeing in the NBA bubble last year.

Brooklyn Nets vs Utah Jazz Betting Preview: Not So Smooth Jazz

Donovan Mitchell has been struggling from the field to start the season, averaging only 20 points on 37% shooting. Compared to last year where he averaged 25 points on 44% shooting from the field. Rudy Gobert, along with Mitchell signed a 5-year maximum contract with the Jazz before the season started, but Gobert has played consistently ever since coming into the league.

Gobert has averaged a double-double ever since becoming part of the starting rotation in 2017, this year is no different. He is averaging 14 points and 14 rebounds a game to go along with 2 blocks. The Jazz re-signed Jordan Clarkson and Derrick Favors in the offseason as well to make their bench just as good as it was last year. Their starting five remained the same with the two aforementioned players along with Mike Conley, Joey Ingles, and Bojan Bogdanovic. This is no easy task for the Nets who are in the midst of a slump of their own.

Brooklyn Nets vs Utah Jazz Betting Preview: When it Rains, it Pours

The Nets have not been lucky these past five games, after starting the season with two dominating 20+ point wins, they are 1-4 in their last 5 games, losing three of those games by a combined seven points. Stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have struggled to hit shots with less than 90 seconds games when they had two very good looks against the Hornets and the Wizards.

The Nets have also severely lacked rebounding and ball control discipline in crunch time. Kevin Durant won’t be on the floor for a week to help either due to the NBA’s rules around COVID-19, so this is another hurdle the Nets have to jump through while simultaneously trying to get out of this early-season slump.

This would be a get right game, a win against a good solid western conference playoff team from a year ago is just what the doctor ordered. But now with Kevin Durant being out, there isn’t much to say that the Nets will win this one but if Coach Steve Nash learns from his mistakes, with the emergence of Timothe Luwawu-Caberot as a legit starter when guys like Durant are out, and the new 6th man Jarrett Allen continuing to produce off the bench the Nets should at least cover the spread of +4.5.

Brooklyn Nets vs Utah Jazz Betting

Odds & Lines:

BetOnline has the Jazz favored by 4.5, the Jazz moneyline at -188 with an over/under of 226.5.

Keep in mind, the Jazz have covered the spread in three of their six games this season, two of those while being an underdog. While the Nets were favored by at least six points in every game and have only covered twice all season.

Free Betting Pick

Trust me, I realize it’s hard to bet against Kyrie Irving but the Nets just don’t look well right now as a team. My free betting pick is Jazz spread at -4.5 and Kyrie Irvings point player prop of 23.5 with combined odds of +212. Good luck tonight!
