Jazz at Clippers Betting Preview
The Utah Jazz (24-5) picked things back up for a second game in a row against the shorthanded Los Angeles Clippers (21-9). On Wednesday the Clippers went out there without two of their best players Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and did not stand a chance against the Jazz losing 114-96. Now this game has the makeup for a playoff preview, but with George and Leonard not playing it doesn’t give NBA fans a real look at what this matchup will look like.
No question the Utah Jazz are one of the best teams in the NBA this year currently sitting as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference the Jazz has the best record in the NBA. No matter who they are playing, anytime Los Angeles is without George and Leonard things will not be easy, especially playing the red hot Jazz.
So far on the season, the Clippers and Jazz have met twice with the Jazz winning both games. Utah has shown that when Los Angeles is healthy and not healthy they have what it takes to beat them. When both teams were at full strength the Jazz won 106-100 against L.A. back in early January and most recently played with the Jazz winning 114-96.
Both of these games are examples of how good the Utah Jazz is this season and how they can hang with the best of the best in the NBA. The Jazz is going to be going for the first half-season sweep against the Clippers and with a win would be positioning themselves nicely in the Western Conference with the All-Star break approaching quickly. Not only has Utah seen success this season against the Clippers the Jazz are currently (22-6-1) against the spread.
Last Five Games
The Utah Jazz is the hottest team in the NBA. Not only has Utah won all of their last five games, but Utah is also currently on a nine-game winning streak and has won 20 of their last 21 games. If Paul George and Kawhi Leonard can suit up in this matchup I expect the Clippers to play much better, but still expect the Jazz to win.
The Los Angeles Clippers have done very well this season when healthy. The Clippers have been able to win without George and Leonard at points, but when both of their stars are out a lot of production and defense is dropped off. Clippers guard Lou Williams has done a great job of producing in the absence of George and Leonard, but against a high-scoring Utah Jazz team, it isn’t enough. Los Angeles had their four-game winning streak snapped Wednesday night against the Jazz and everybody saw that coming with key players out due to injury. When healthy the clippers have players that will allow them to compete with anyone especially the Utah Jazz.
- Mike Conley – questionable (hamstring)
- Conley did not play Wednesday night against L.A.
- Nicholas Batum – day to day (concussion)
- Batum missed Wednesday night’s game against the Jazz.
- Paul George – day to day (toe)
- George missed Wednesday night’s game against the Jazz.
- Kawhi Leonard – day to day (lower leg)
- Leonard missed Wednesday night’s game against the Jazz
- Jazz -4 (-105) Moneyline -174
- Clippers +4 (-105) Moneyline +146
Prediction: Jazz Moneyline
In their last nine games, the Jazz is 9-0 against the spread and I think that this is going to continue Friday night. Don’t overthink this one, but take the Jazz Moneyline just to be safe. Even if Kawhi Leonard and Paul George play the Jazz are clicking on all cylinders and should win this game and advance to 3-0 against Los Angeles on the year.
