LeBron James is making headlines per usual, this time off the back of becoming the all-time scoring champion in the NBA. Although it is phenomenal what James has done throughout his career, not enough is being talked about how great James is as a player right now with the Lakers. This is why, even despite the Lakers not being a top team in the west, the NBA should be cherishing James’s run right now.
Still Top 10 In the World
The NBA has seen a lot more parody when it comes to the top stars in the league. there are so many players to pick from that have great arguments for being the best player in the world. there is Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry, Luka Doncic, and even still LeBron James.
However, for LeBron James to be in that conversation of at least a top 10 player, and being around that top five to best player in the world conversation, is something that seems to be glossed over too much. The NBA is not in an era where there isn’t jaw dropping stars, in fact there may be more stars right now in the league than ever before, and James still remains in that elite category at 37 years old.
James is averaging 30.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg, and 7.0 apg in his 20th season in the NBA. It is truly remarkable what is he is doing as an individually player even if the Lakers are not the best.
LeBron is currently seventh in points per game, 12th in assists per game despite being a forward and 28th in rebounds per game, making him one of the most versatile players in the league currently.
Carrying His Team
LeBron James has carried every franchise that he has been on. Everyone knows the amount that he had to put on his back to take the Cleveland Cavaliers to NBA finals, and Eastern Conference Finals games, despite the team being made up of extremely inconsequential role players compared to the teams that they were facing.
Obviously, in Miami, he had much more help with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, but he still carried the Miami Heat to four NBA finals, and two finals wins. Then his last stint in Cleveland, with some of the best help that he’s ever had, he still was carrying the team to the finals, against the greatest offensive team ever formed in basketball history.
With the Lakers, James was supposed to be paired with Anthony Davis to not have to carry so much of a franchise. However, now four years in, and James is still carrying the Lakers, despite Anthony Davis having a great season.
Davis has a ton of injury issues, and the Lakers are once again leaning on James to save their season, as they do not have the role players to allow LeBron to be just a star. It is impressive that James has carried so many franchises, and is still doing so at such a high level today.
